Blend Door Actuator - HVAC (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Remove the lower instrument panel. See Dash Panel - Instrument Panel Lower Assembly (Remove and Install).
  2. Remove the glove box assembly. See Dash Panel - IP Glovebox Assembly (Remove and Install).
  3. Remove the fasteners (x3) that attach the RH instrument panel downleg to the vehicle, and then remove the downleg from the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  4. Remove the screws (x3) that attach the blend door actuator assembly to the vehicle, rotate the actuator arms to align keyways to release the assembly, and then remove the assembly from the vehicle.

    Note the arm positions before removal.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 bit

Install

  1. Position the blend door actuator assembly to the vehicle, and then install the screws (x3) that attach the assembly to the vehicle.
    1 Nm (.7 lbs-ft)

    Make sure the actuator arms are positioned correctly before installation.

    Move the blend doors as required to match the new actuator.

    Rotate the actuator arms to align keyways before installation.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 bit
  2. Remove the fasteners (x3) that attach the RH instrument panel downleg to the vehicle, and then remove the downleg from the vehicle.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    26 Nm (19.2 lbs-ft)

    Note
    The bolt is torqued to 5 Nm and the nuts (x2) are torqued to 26 Nm.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  3. Install the glove box assembly. See Dash Panel - IP Glovebox Assembly (Remove and Install).
  4. Install the lower instrument panel. See Dash Panel - Instrument Panel Lower Assembly (Remove and Install).
