Windshield Wipers and Motor - Wiper Arm and Blade Assembly (Remove and Install)

Remove
- Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Remove the frunk assembly. See Frunk Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Close the powered frunk.

Remove the wiper nut cap.

Release the washer fluid hose elbow
connection.

Remove the nut that attaches the wiper
arm to the vehicle.CAUTIONDo not use power tools on the nut.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 18 mm socket

Use the Wiper Arm Removal Tool (PN: 2004428-00-A) to remove the wiper arm assembly
from the vehicle. If the Wiper Arm Removal Tool is not available, put pressure towards
the base of the wiper arm, and then rock the wiper arm side to side while pulling
upwards to release it from the vehicle.
CAUTIONMake sure the washer hose connection does not get pinchedCAUTIONDo not pry against the windshield applique or glass.NoteIf the wiper arm removal tool is unavailable, gently lift and rock the arm fore and aft to release it.NoteMake sure the washer hose connection does not get pinched.Tip: Use a step ladder to get position over the wiper arm base for additional leverage.
Install

Perform wiper motor homing: press the wiper button on steering wheel, and then use
the touchscreen to select wiper speed "III". Wait 5 seconds, and then use the
touchscreen to turn the wiper off.
NoteMake sure drive rails are on and the powergate is closed while performing this routine.CAUTIONDo not skip this step. Failure to perform this step (wiper motor homing) may cause wiper arm and blade assembly misalignment, and may result in damage to the wiper.

Align the upper portion of the wiper
arm with the mark on the upper area of the windshield, and then install the base of the
wiper arm onto the splines.

With an assistant holding the wiper
arm in place, install the nut that attaches the wiper arm to the vehicle.CAUTIONDo not use power tools on the nut.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 18 mm socket
- Open the powered frunk.

Check the alignment of the wiper
arm.
- Check the alignment of the wiper arm with the LH upper area of the windshield.
- Check that the gap between the wiper motor linkage and wiper motor housing is 5.5mm +/- 1mm.
NoteIf the wiper arm is not aligned, then remove the wiper arm and re-install and re-measure. - Install the frunk assembly. See Frunk Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).

Install the washer fluid hose elbow
connection.
NoteMake sure the hose is fully seated.

Install the wiper arm nut cover.
NoteMake sure the cover is fully seated.
- Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
