Cybertruck electronics are powered by a 48V "mid voltage" or "MV" architecture that is designed to improve efficiency. Servicing MV components requires extra knowledge and care in order to avoid personal and/or vehicular harm. Read and understand MV precautions in Electrical Precautions and make sure any required MV-related training courses have been completed, as applicable.
  1. Raise and support vehicle

    Push LH B-pillar door trigger to release
  3. Lower LH front window
  4. Open powered front trunk

  5. Remove rear underhood apron

    9x clips
  6. Remove LH rear wheel cap

    1x cap, 8x clips, Use both hands to firmly pull wheel cap to release clips, Cap may remove with or without mounting ring attached
  7. Loosen LH rear wheel nuts

    6x nuts, 21mm, 205 Nm
  8. Raise vehicle partially and lower onto locks

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side
  9. Connect to vehicle using Toolbox 3

    OBD-II connection is integrated into drivers lower IP cover, Open Toolbox 3 website and establish connection to vehicle, https://toolbox.teslamotors.com, Select connection status icon at top right corner then select connect locally, Icon will turn green when connected, Successful connection will automatically unlock vehicle gateway and place UI in Service Mode Plus
  10. Select "Actions" and search for "EPB"
  11. Select PROC_EPBL_START-SERVICE-MODE, click 'Run', and allow routine to complete

    Chock wheel if necessary, Select ‘X’ at top right of window to close once complete
  12. Select ‘PROC_EPBR_START-SERVICE-MODE’, click ‘Run’, and allow routine to complete

    Hold down brake pedal while performing routine, Caution vehicle may roll freely, Select 'X' at top right of window to close once complete
  13. Disconnect Toolbox 3 from vehicle and remove laptop
  14. Power down vehicle via UI

    Verify EPBs are engaged, Select charge port icon to ensure drive state is disengaged then power down vehicle via Controls > Safety > Power Off
  15. Disconnect FRL connector then disconnect MV battery connector

    2x connectors, Release locking tab then disconnect FRL connector, Slide eCPA to left then lift lever to release MV battery connector, Early production trucks may have black FRL connector, Release eCPA by pushing down to unlock and slide red locking tab, Wait 2 minutes for electrical circuits to discharge before disconnecting modules
  16. Remove LH rear wheel

  17. Remove LH rear fore fender flare

  18. Remove LH rear aft fender flare

  19. Remove LH rear wheel liner

    19x push clips, 5x push nuts, Cut push nuts with diagonal cutters, Discard push nuts after removal
  20. Disconnect EPB harness connector from LH rear brake caliper

    1x connector, Release locking tab
  21. Release LH rear brake line from upper control arm

    1x bolt, 10mm, 10 Nm
  22. Remove LH rear brake caliper and set aside

    2x bolts, 14 mm, 150 Nm, Hang caliper from body if not fully removing, Route caliper hose so that it does not get caught on stabar assembly
  23. Remove LH rear brake rotor

    Rotor will be loose until caliper is installed
  24. Use jack to simulate ride height on LH rear suspension

    Raise jack to simulate ride height, This is to release tension from the upper control arm which will be removed next later steps, DO NOT skip this you run into the risk of hurting yourself
  25. Remove LH rear toe link from LH rear knuckle

    1x nut, 21mm, 170 Nm, Counter hold ball joint, Discard nyloc nut after removal
  26. Remove nut securing LH rear upper control arm to knuckle

    1x nylon nut, 21 mm, 150 Nm, Discard nut after removal, Move brake hose aside to avoid damage, Use caution when releasing rear upper control from knuckle
  27. Use jack to lower LH rear ride height back to hanging position

    Lower jack to let suspension hang
  28. Release harness from LH rear spring module

    2x connectors, 1x grommet
  29. Remove LH rear lower control arm aeroshield

    3x bolts, 10mm, 7 Nm
  30. Disconnect LH rear stabar link

    1x nuts, 15mm, 45 Nm, Pull down on stabar as required to remove link, Discard nut after removal
  31. Remove fasteners securing LH rear spring module to lower control arm

  32. Remove bolts securing LH rear coil spring assembly onto RUB

    3x nylon nut, 18 mm, 70 Nm, Discard nuts after removal
  33. Remove LH rear coil spring assembly from vehicle

    Recommend assistance, Maneuver spring out from vehicle, prying the lower control arm down, Then move spring up and pulling out, Be cautious and prevent marring or damaging any components
  34. Clean surface area on lower control arm for coil spring assembly installation

    Use a shop towel to clean the surface area on lower control arm for spring module installation, Allow one minute for dry time
  35. Position LH rear coil spring assembly into vehicle

    Use pry bar to help ease spring into place
  36. Install nuts securing LH coil spring assembly onto RUB

    3x nylon nut, 18 mm, 70 Nm, Install new nylon nuts
  37. Install bolts securing RH rear coil spring assembly to lower control arm assembly

  38. Use jack to simulate ride height on LH rear suspension

    Raise jack to simulate ride height, This is to release tension from the upper control arm which will be removed next later steps, DO NOT skip this you run into the risk of hurting yourself
  39. Install nut securing LH rear upper control arm to knuckle

    1x nylon nut, 21 mm, 150 Nm, Install new nylon nut, Counter-hold joint to install nut, Support suspension to ease installation, Ensure brake hose is properly routed
  40. Install LH rear toe link onto LH rear knuckle

    1x nut, 21mm, 170 Nm, Install new Nyloc nut
  41. Install LH rear brake caliper onto LH rear knuckle

  42. Connect EPB harness connector to LH rear brake caliper

    1x connector, Engage locking tab
  43. Install LH rear brake line onto upper control arm

    1x bolt, 10 mm, 10 Nm
  44. Connect LH rear stabar link

    1x nuts, 15mm, 45 Nm, Pull down on stabar as required to install link, Install new nut
  45. Secure harness to LH rear active dampener

  46. Use jack to lower LH rear ride height back to hanging position

  47. Install LH rear lower control arm aeroshield

  48. Install LH rear wheel liner

    19x push clips, 5x push nuts, Install new push nuts
  49. Install LH rear aft fender flare

    5x clips, Replace any damaged or missing clips
  50. Install LH rear fore fender flare

  51. Install LH rear wheel

  52. Lower vehicle until tires are touching the ground

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered
  53. Torque LH rear wheel nuts

    6x nuts, 21mm, 205 Nm
  54. Install LH rear wheel cap

    Note
    1x cap, 8x clips, Partially secure wheel cap to wheel, While partially installed wheel cover can be rotated to align with tire design, When aligned press inward from center of cap then secure all clips to mounting ring
  55. Connect FRL connector then connect MV battery connector

    2x connectors, Connect FRL connector then secure locking tab, Position lever to secure MV battery connector then slide eCPA to right, Early production trucks may have black FRL connector, If power cycling vehicle then ensure at least 60 seconds has passed since powering down
  56. Hold brake pedal and select park on UI to disable EPB service mode
  57. Close powered front trunk

  59. Remove vehicle from lift

  60. Raise LH front window
  61. Close LH front door
