Calipers and Pads - Rear Brake Caliper - Bleed Screw - LH (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  3. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  4. Remove the LH rear wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  5. Position an oil drain container under the LH rear brake caliper.
  6. Remove the dust cover from the LH rear brake caliper bleed screw, and then remove the bleed screw from the caliper.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket

Install

  1. Install the LH rear brake caliper bleed screw into the caliper, and then install the bleed screw dust cover.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  2. Remove the oil drain container from underneath the vehicle.
  3. Bleed the LH rear brake. See Brake Fluid Bleed - One Caliper.
  4. Clean the area around the brake fluid reservoir, and then remove the brake reservoir cap.
  5. Check the brake fluid level and top off the reservoir to the "Max" line, if necessary.

    If the level is above the Max line, remove extra fluid.
  6. Fill the brake bleeder reservoir to full level.

    CAUTION
    Use only DOT 4 brake fluid.
  7. Install the pressure bleeder adapter onto the reservoir.

    Note
    Attach the brake reservoir hose to the brake adapter at this time.
  8. Connect the power supply to the bleeder, turn on the power, and then to set the pressure to 30 psi.
  9. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  10. In Toolbox, click the Actions tab, and then search for ‘"bleed".
  11. Remove the bleed valve cover, and then install the fluid catching bottle to LH rear brake caliper bleeding valve before starting the ESP.
  12. Open the LH rear brake caliper bleeding valve then Click the play button next to PROC_ESP_FRONT-R-REAR-L-BRAKE-BLEEDvia Toolbox: (link)via Service Mode:
    • Chassis ➜ Brakes ➜ Brake Bleed FR-RL
    • Chassis ➜ Brakes ➜ Brake Bleed FR-RL
    and select "Run" to start the ESP and then close the bleeding valve once the pump stops running

    1x bleeding valve, 10mm, 10 Nm, Make sure valve is hand tight when closed
  13. Repeat the above step until clear fluid and no air bubbles come out of the LH rear brake caliper bleeding valve

  14. Remove the fluid catching bottle, Torque LH rear brake caliper bleeding valve and install cover

  15. Turn off and remove pressure brake bleeder kit from vehicle
  16. Check brake fluid level and top off reservoir if necessary

    If level is above Max line, remove extra fluid
  17. Install brake reservoir cap
  18. Pump brake pedal a few times to ensure pedal feels normal.
  19. Select "Actions" tab and search for ‘"Stiffness"
  20. Select TEST_BRAKE_X_STIFFNESS-TEST-SERVICEvia Toolbox: (link)via Service Mode: Chassis ➜ Brakes ➜ Brake Stiffness Test, click "Run", and allow routine to complete
  21. Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  22. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  23. Install the LH rear wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  24. Remove the vehicle from the lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  25. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
