Ancillary Components - HV Connector Header, FD (Remove and Install)

Warning
Cybertruck electronics are powered by a 48V "mid voltage" or "MV" architecture that is designed to improve efficiency. Servicing MV components requires extra knowledge and care in order to avoid personal and/or vehicular harm. Read and understand MV precautions in Electrical Precautions and make sure any required MV-related training courses have been completed, as applicable.

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  3. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  4. Disconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  5. Perform Vehicle HV Disablement procedure. See Vehicle HV Disablement Procedure.
  6. Disconnect the FDU HV harness from the HV battery.

    CAUTION
    Do not force the release lever up.

    Note
    Release the locking tab and rotate the release lever up to disengage the connector.

    Make sure the alignment tabs on the FDU header are not damaged.
  7. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the FDU HV header to the vehicle, and then remove the header from the vehicle.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)

    Slide the header downward to remove it.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • EPR10 socket

Install

  1. Position the FDU HV header into the vehicle, and then install the bolts (x2) that attach the header to the vehicle.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)

    Slide the header upwards to position it.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • EPR10 socket
  2. Connect the FDU HV harness to the HV battery.

    CAUTION
    Be careful not to damage any pins.

    Note
    Verify the lever is in the upright and open position before connecting. Carefully seat connector and allow the lever to engage. Fully secure the lever and verify the red tab is locked.
  3. Integrate HV power. See Vehicle HV Disablement Procedure.
  4. Lower the vehicle until the tires are touching the ground.
  5. Reconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  6. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  7. Remove the vehicle from the lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  8. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
