Cabin HVAC - HVAC Distribution (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Open all the doors and lower all the windows.
  2. Move the LH and RH front seats fully forward.
  3. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  4. Disconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  5. Remove the steering column control module. See Steering Column and Wheel - Steering Column Control Module (Remove and Install).
  6. Remove the center floor trim. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Center Floor Trim (Remove and Install).
  7. Remove the center console assembly. See Center Console - Center Console Assembly (Remove and Install).
  8. Remove the center display assembly. See Touchscreen - Center Display Assembly (Remove and Install).
  9. Remove the LH mid A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Mid Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  10. Partially remove the LH side lower A-pillar primary seal.
  11. Remove the LH lower A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  12. Remove the footwell cover. See Dash Support Frame - Footwell Cover (Remove and Install).
  13. Remove the accelerator pedal side trim. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Pedal - Side Trim (Remove and Install).
  14. Fold back the LH front cabin carpet.
  15. Remove the RH mid A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Mid Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  16. Partially remove the RH front door seal .
  17. Remove the RH lower A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  18. Fold back the RH carpet.
  19. Release the clips (x4) that attach the center floor lower support bracket to the vehicle, and then remove the bracket from the vehicle.
  20. Remove the push clips (x2) and release the clips (x4) that attach the center floor upper bracket to the vehicle, and then remove the bracket from the vehicle.
  21. Remove the 2nd row dual duct on rails.

    Note
    Pull from the bottom to separate.
  22. Release the clips (x2) that attach the center console riser duct to the vehicle, and then slide the duct forward to remove it.
  23. Slide the floor jumper duct forward to release it from the center console riser duct, and then lift the rear of the jumper duct and pull rearward to remove it.
  24. Remove the mid instrument panel assembly. See Dash Panel - IP Mid Panel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  25. Remove the lower instrument panel. See Dash Panel - Instrument Panel Lower Assembly (Remove and Install).
  26. Remove the glove box assembly. See Dash Panel - IP Glovebox Assembly (Remove and Install).
  27. Remove the RH air wave duct. See Passenger Ducting and Vents - Panel Duct, RH (Remove and Install).
  28. Remove the passenger airbag. See Front Air Bags - MX - Passenger Airbag, NAR (Remove and Install).
  29. Remove the instrument panel top pad assembly. See Dash Panel - Instrument Panel Top Pad Assembly (Remove and Install).
  30. Remove the LH IP quarter panel. See Dash Panel - Quarter Panel Assembly - LH (Remove and Install).
  31. Remove the LH quarter glass demist duct. See Passenger Ducting and Vents - Quarter Glass Demist Duct, LH (Remove and Install)
  32. Remove the clip that attaches the LH side window demist duct to the driver demist duct assembly, and then separate duct assemblies.
  33. Remove the LH outboard IP floor duct. See Interior Ducting and Vents - Instrument Panel Floor Duct Outboard - LH (Remove and Install).
  34. Remove the LH side window demist duct. See Interior Ducting and Vents - Side Window Demist Duct - LH (Remove and Install).
  35. Release the clips (x2) and disconnect the electrical connector that attach the LH panel duct to the vehicle, and then remove the duct from the vehicle.
  36. Disconnect the driver side IP airwave module electrical connectors (x2).
  37. Disconnect the passenger side IP airwave module electrical connectors (x2).
  38. Disconnect the IP aerobracket assembly light strip electrical connectors (x2).
  39. Remove the screws (x3) and release the tabs (x14) that attach the IP aero bracket assembly to the vehicle, and then remove the aero bracket assembly from the vehicle with the airwave modules.
    2.3 Nm (1.7 lbs-ft)

    Be careful not to scratch interior trim during removal.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 socket
  40. Release the clips (x6) and disconnect the electrical connector that attaches the harness to supercarrier assembly on the driver side.
  41. Release the IP harness clips (x4) at the center of the supercarrier assembly.
  42. Release the clips (x2) and disconnect the electrical connector on the IP harness from the passenger side.
  43. Disconnect the electrical connectors (x6) and release the clips (x3) that attach the IP harness to the HVAC distributor.
  44. Remove the supercarrier assembly side bolts (x4).
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  45. Remove the supercarrier assembly upper bolts (x2).
    15 Nm (11.1 lbs-ft)

    Use an airbag to elevate the cowl if needed.

    • 13 mm socket
  46. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the supercarrier assembly to the steering column.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  47. Remove the bolts (x5) that attach the HVAC distributor to the supercarrier assembly.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)

    Pull the supercarrier assembly inward to allow the HVAC to separate and pass the IP harness through.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  48. With assistance, remove the supercarrier assembly from the vehicle.

  49. Remove the HVAC distributor.

Install

  1. Position the HVAC distributor into the vehicle.

    The vent insert will sit into the firewall.
  2. With assistance, position the supercarrier assembly into the vehicle.

    Maneuver the IP harness around the lower air distributor.
  3. Install the bolts (x4) that attach the supercarrier assembly to the steering column.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  4. Install the supercarrier assembly upper bolts (x2).
    15 Nm (11.1 lbs-ft)

  5. Install the supercarrier assembly side bolts (x4).
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  6. Install the bolts (x5) that attach the HVAC distributor to the supercarrier assembly.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Make sure the harness is passed through the upper beam.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  7. Connect the electrical connectors (x6) and secure the clips (x3) that attach the IP harness to the HVAC distributor.
  8. Secure the clips (x6) and connect the electrical connector on the IP harness to supercarrier assembly on the driver side.
  9. Install the IP harness clips (x4) at the center of the supercarrier assembly.
  10. Secure the clips (x2) and connect the electrical connector on the IP harness from the passenger side.
  11. Install the 2nd row dual duct on rails.

    Maneuver as needed through the foam insert.
  12. Connect the driver side IP airwave module electrical connectors (x2).
  13. Connect the passenger side IP airwave module electrical connectors (x2).
  14. Position the IP aero bracket assembly into the vehicle, and then secure the tabs (x14) and install the screws (x3) that attach the aero bracket assembly to the vehicle.
    2.3 Nm (1.7 lbs-ft)

  15. Connect the IP aerobracket assembly light strip electrical connectors (x2).
  16. Position the LH panel duct into the vehicle, and then secure the clips (x2) and connect the electrical connector that attach the duct to the vehicle.
  17. Install the LH side window demist duct. See Interior Ducting and Vents - Side Window Demist Duct - LH (Remove and Install).
  18. Install the LH quarter glass demist duct. See Passenger Ducting and Vents - Quarter Glass Demist Duct, LH (Remove and Install).
  19. Install the LH IP quarter panel. See Dash Panel - Quarter Panel Assembly - LH (Remove and Install).
  20. Install the instrument panel top pad assembly. See Dash Panel - Instrument Panel Top Pad Assembly (Remove and Install).
  21. Install the LH and RH upper A-pillar trims. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Upper Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  22. Install the front header trim. See Headliner Trim - Front Header Trim (Remove and Install).
  23. Install the bolts (x4) that attach the instrument panel top pad to the vehicle.
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)

    • 8 mm socket
  24. Install the front passenger airbag. See Front Air Bags - MX - Passenger Airbag, NAR (Remove and Install).
  25. Install the RH air wave duct. See Passenger Ducting and Vents - Panel Duct, RH (Remove and Install).
  26. Install the glovebox assembly. See Dash Panel - IP Glovebox Assembly (Remove and Install).
  27. Install the RH EPP clip.
  28. Install the instrument panel lower panel. See Dash Panel - Instrument Panel Lower Assembly (Remove and Install).
  29. Position the mid instrument panel into the vehicle, and then install the clips (x19) that attach the panel to the IP.

    Replace any missing or damaged clips.
  30. Position the floor jumper duct into the vehicle, and then slide the front of the duct into position.
  31. Release the clips (x2) that attach the center console riser duct to the vehicle, and then slide the duct forward to remove it.
  32. Position the center floor lower support bracket to the vehicle, and then install the clips (x4) that attach the bracket to the vehicle.
  33. Position the center floor upper bracket into the vehicle, and then install the clips (x6) that attach the bracket to the vehicle.
  34. Unfold the RH front cabin carpet into position.
  35. Install the RH lower A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  36. Install the RH front door seal.
  37. Install the RH mid A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Mid Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  38. Install the RH center floor rail. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Center Floor Rail - LH (Remove and Install).
  39. Move the RH front seat fully forward.
  40. Position the center console into the vehicle, and then lower the center console onto the riser.
  41. Connect the center console harness electrical connectors (x2).
  42. Install the bolts (x4) that attach the front of the center console to the riser.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  43. Position the HV outlet to the front console panel, and then install the screws (x2) and secure the harness clip that attach the outlet to the panel.
    1 Nm (.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 bit
  44. Install the center console front panel. See Center Console - Front Panel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  45. Unfold the LH front cabin carpet into position.
  46. Install the footwell cover. See Dash Support Frame - Footwell Cover (Remove and Install).
  47. Install the LH lower A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  48. Secure the LH side lower A-pillar primary seal.
  49. Install the LH mid A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Mid Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  50. Install the pedal side trim. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Pedal - Side Trim (Remove and Install).
  51. Install the center floor trim. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Center Floor Trim (Remove and Install).
  52. Install the LH center floor rail. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Center Floor Rail - LH (Remove and Install).
  53. Install the steering column control module. See Steering Column and Wheel - Steering Column Control Module (Remove and Install).
  54. Install the steering wheel. See Steering Column and Wheel - Steering Wheel Pur Heated (Remove and Install).
  55. Install the driver airbag. See Front Air Bags - Driver Airbag Assembly (Remove and Install).
  56. Reconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  57. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  58. Move the LH front seat fully forward.
  59. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the rear of the center console to the riser.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  60. Install the center console rear panel. See Center Console - Back Panel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  61. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  62. Perform Handwheel calibration. See Set Handwheel Zero.
  63. On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to Service Mode Plus > Chassis > Steer by Wire > PEPS > Front Rack Calibration.
  64. Tap Front Rack Calibration, tap Run, and then successful pass.

  65. On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to Service Mode Plus > Actions > Thermal.
  66. Tap Test Thermal Performance, tap Run, and allow the routine to complete.
  67. Tap Test HVAC Performance, tap Run, and allow the routine to complete.
  68. Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  69. Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  70. Restore the LH and RH front seats back to their original position.
  71. Raise all the windows and close all the doors.
