Cabin HVAC - HVAC Distribution (Remove and Install)

Remove
- Open all the doors and lower all the windows.
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Place the vehicle into Service Mode. See Service Mode.
- Remove the center console rear panel. See Center Console - Back Panel Assembly (Remove and Install).

Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the
rear of the center console to the riser.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
- Move the LH and RH front seats fully rearward.
- Disconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
- Remove the center console assembly. See Center Console - Center Console Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Remove the center display assembly. See Touchscreen - Center Display Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Remove the front header trim. See Headliner Trim - Front Header Trim (Remove and Install).
- Remove the LH mid A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - A-Pillar Mid Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
- Remove the LH lower A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - A-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
- Remove the footwell cover. See Dash Support Frame - Footwell Cover (Remove and Install).
- Remove the LH center floor rail. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Center Floor Rail - LH (Remove and Install).
- Remove the accelerator pedal side trim. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Pedal - Side Trim (Remove and Install).
- Remove the accelerator pedal. See Accelerator Pedal (Remove and Install).

Fold back the LH front cabin
carpet.
- Remove the LH upper A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - A-Pillar Upper Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
- Remove the LH IP quarter panel. See Dash Panel - Quarter Panel Assembly - LH (Remove and Install).
- Remove the LH quarter glass demist duct. See Passenger Ducting and Vents - Quarter Glass Demist Duct, LH (Remove and Install)
- Remove the RH mid A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - A-Pillar Mid Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
- Remove the RH lower A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - A-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
- Remove the RH center floor rail. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Center Floor Rail - LH (Remove and Install).

Fold back the RH carpet.
- Remove the RH upper A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - A-Pillar Upper Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
- Remove the RH IP quarter panel. See Dash Panel - Quarter Panel Assembly - LH (Remove and Install).
- Remove the RH quarter glass demist duct. See Passenger Ducting and Vents - Quarter Glass Demist Duct, LH (Remove and Install)
- Remove the center floor trim. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Center Floor Trim (Remove and Install).

Remove the push clips (x2) and release
the edge clips (x2) and retaining clips (x2) that attach the center floor upper bracket
to the vehicle, and then remove the bracket from the vehicle.

Remove the 2nd row dual duct on
rails.
NotePull from the bottom to separate.
- Remove the mid instrument panel assembly. See Dash Panel - IP Mid Panel Assembly (Remove and Install).

Partially release the instrument panel
defrost grille.
NoteUse a trim tool to gently lift the front edge of defrost grille upwards until enough space is available to insert an inflatable airbag. Insert an airbag at each side of defrost grille, then inflate to provide clearance to access the instrument panel bolts (x2).

Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the
steering column bracket to the vehicle.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
-
Remove the LH supercarrier assembly
side bolts (x2).TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
-
Loosen the LH upper bolt that attaches
the supercarrier to the vehicle.
NoteThe bolt does not need to be removed. The supercarrier slots onto the upper bolts.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
-
Release the connector locks,
disconnect the instrument panel and steering harness electrical connectors (x4) at the
LH side, and then release the harness clips (x2).
NoteTuck the harness into the supercarrier to avoid snagging during removal.

Remove the RH supercarrier assembly
side bolts (x2).TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
-
Loosen the RH upper bolt that attaches
the supercarrier to the vehicle.
NoteThe bolt does not need to be removed. The supercarrier slots onto the upper bolts.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
-
Slowly loosen the bolt that secures
the lower locking cover to the RH controller, making sure that the cover separates from
the controller squarely, and does not bind.
TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 8 mm socket
NoteDo not remove locking cover. Loosen until the bolt spins freely.NoteMake sure the bolts and locking cover are fully released before attempting to release the connectors.NoteIf the cover binds, tighten the bolt until the locking cover is square again, then loosen the bolt while holding the cover square to the controller.NoteUse a power tool to loosen the bolt. -
Release the connector locks,
disconnect the instrument panel harness electrical connectors (x4) at the RH side, and
then release the harness clips (x2).
NoteDo not remove the locking cover.NoteEach connector has two tabs, one on the top right side and one on the left lower side of the connector head. Both tabs must be pressed inwards for the connector head to clear the locking cover and release successfully.TIpUse a pocket screwdriver to press one of the connector tabs while pressing the other tab by hand.

Release the connector locks,
disconnect the instrument panel harness electrical connectors (x5) from the car
computer, and then release the harness clip.
NoteTuck the harness into the supercarrier to avoid snagging during removal.

Place a fender cover over the center
of the 1st row seats.
-
Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the
supercarrier to the downleg brackets.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
-
With assistance, remove the instrument
panel assembly from the front bulkhead.
NotePull the assembly rearward to release the datums, and then lay the assembly back onto the 1st row seats.CAUTIONBe careful not to damage the seats.

With assistance, remove the instrument
panel assembly from the vehicle.
NoteCarefully maneuver the assembly out of the vehicle, and then place it onto a padded portable bench.NoteOrient the assembly as required for component access.

Release the clips (x2) that attach the
LH side window demist duct to the instrument panel assembly, release the harness clip
and disconnect the electrical connector, and then remove the duct from the
assembly.

Remove the LH inboard instrument panel
floor duct from the HVAC case.
-
Release the clips (x2) that attach the
LH airwave duct to the HVAC distribution assembly, and then slide the duct outboard to
provide clearance fort he HVAC distributor removal.
-
Separate the HVAC distributor harness
from the instrument panel harness.
NoteRelease the clip, and then pull the harness down as required for access.
-
Remove the bolts (x5) that attach the
HVAC distributor to the supercarrier assembly.NotePull the supercarrier assembly inward to allow the HVAC to separate and pass the IP harness through.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Remove the HVAC distributor from the
instrument panel assembly.
Install
-
Position the HVAC distributor into the
instrument panel.
NoteAlign with vents on the passenger side, and then twist downwards to align the datums to the supercarrier.

Install the bolts (x5) that attach the
HVAC distributor to the supercarrier assembly.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Secure the HVAC harness to the
instrument panel harness.
Note1x clip, Tuck harness into supercarrier to avoid snags during install.
-
Position the LH panel duct to the HVAC
distribution duct, and then secure the clips (x2).
NoteRotate the panel duct downward, and then seat it onto the HVAC outlet duct.
-
Install the LH inboard IP floor duct
onto the HVAC case.
NoteSecure the duct to the outboard floor duct, and then the HVAC duct outlet.
-
Position the LH side window demist
duct into the vehicle, and then install the clips (x2) that attach the duct to the
vehicle.
NoteMake sure the duct is seated over the HVAC case correctly to avoid circulation problems.NoteRefer to the images for install clarification.

With assistance, position the
instrument panel assembly into the vehicle.
CAUTIONUse caution to avoid damage to components.
-
With assistance, position the
instrument panel assembly onto the front bulkhead, and then install and hand-tighten the
fasteners (x4).
NoteAlign datums then push forward until partially seated against front bulkhead, Thread in side bolts securing supercarrier a few threads to temporarily secure assemblyTIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket

Inspect along the length of the
assembly to ensure no harnesses, ducts, etc. have become pinched behind the instrument
panel assembly.

Install the bolts (x2) that attach the
supercarrier to the downleg brackets.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
-
Remove the fender cover from the
center of the 1st row seats.
-
Connect instrument panel harness
electrical connectors (x5) at the car computer, engage the connector locks, and then
secure the harness clip.
NotePull the harness down from the carrier as needed.
-
Connect the instrument panel harness
electrical connectors (x4) to the RH controller, engage the connector locks, and then
secure the harness clips (x2).
NotePress inwards gently on the blue connectors to verify housings are correctly engaged with locking frame.NoteLocking cover should be in a released position.NoteCarefully insert the connector through the locking cover, and then gently wiggle the connector head to ensure it is correctly inserted.NoteMake sure the pins on the connector are aligned before fastening the locking cover bolts.NoteThe connector should be slightly loose, but the tab engagement will prevent it from being disconnected.

Slowly tighten the bolts that secures
the locking cover to the RH controller, making sure that the cover is square to the
controller, and does not bind.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 8 mm socket
NoteIf the cover binds, loosen the bolt until the locking cover is square again, then tighten the bolt while holding the cover square to the controller.TIpWhile tightening the bolt, press the connector into the controller to keep it square. -
Install the RH supercarrier assembly
side bolts (x2).TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket

Connect the instrument panel and
steering harness electrical connectors (x4) at the LH side, engage the connector locks,
and then secure the harness clips (x2).
NotePull the harness down from the carrier as needed.

Install the LH supercarrier assembly
side bolts (x2).TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
-
Install the bolts (x2) that attach the
steering column bracket to the vehicle.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
-
Secure the LH upper bolt that attaches
the supercarrier to the vehicle.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
-
Secure the RH upper bolt that attaches
the supercarrier to the vehicle.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
-
Deflate and remove the airbags in the
instrument panel defrost grille, and then push down along the top surface of the grille
to secure the clips.
- Install the mid instrument panel assembly, but do not install the LH mid A-pillar trim yet. See Dash Panel - IP Mid Panel Assembly (Remove and Install).

Install the 2nd row dual duct on
rails.
NoteManeuver as needed through the foam insert.

Position the center floor upper
bracket into the vehicle, and then install the clips (x6) that attach the bracket to the
vehicle.
- Install the center floor trim, but do not install the side rails. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Center Floor Trim (Remove and Install).
- Install the RH quarter glass demist duct. See Passenger Ducting and Vents - Quarter Glass Demist Duct, LH (Remove and Install)
- Install the RH IP quarter panel. See Dash Panel - Quarter Panel Assembly - LH (Remove and Install).
- Install the RH upper A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - A-Pillar Upper Trim - LH (Remove and Install).

Unfold the RH front cabin carpet into
position.
- Install the RH center floor rail. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Center Floor Rail - LH (Remove and Install).
- Install the RH lower A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - A-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
- Install the RH mid A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - A-Pillar Mid Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
- Install the LH quarter glass demist duct. See Passenger Ducting and Vents - Quarter Glass Demist Duct, LH (Remove and Install)
- Install the LH IP quarter panel. See Dash Panel - Quarter Panel Assembly - LH (Remove and Install).
- Install the LH upper A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - A-Pillar Upper Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
- Install the front header trim. See Headliner Trim - Front Header Trim (Remove and Install).

Unfold the LH front cabin carpet into
position.
- Install the accelerator pedal. See Accelerator Pedal (Remove and Install).
- Install the accelerator pedal side trim. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Pedal - Side Trim (Remove and Install).
- Install the LH lower A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - A-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
- Install the LH mid A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Post Interior Trim - A-Pillar Mid Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
- Install the LH center floor rail. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Center Floor Rail - LH (Remove and Install).
- Install the footwell cover. See Dash Support Frame - Footwell Cover (Remove and Install).
- Install the center display assembly. See Touchscreen - Center Display Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Install the center console assembly. See Center Console - Center Console Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Reconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
- Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Perform Handwheel calibration. See Set Handwheel Zero.
- On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to .

Tap Run and allow routine to
complete.
, and then tap NoteMake sure the vehicle is in "PARK".NoteMake sure the routine is successful.
- On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to .
- Tap Test Thermal Performance, tap Run, and allow the routine to complete.
- Tap Test HVAC Performance, tap Run, and allow the routine to complete.
- Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
- Restore the LH and RH front seats back to their original position.
- Raise all the windows and close all the doors.
