Remove

  1. Raise and support vehicle

  2. Open powered front trunk

  3. Remove rear underhood apron

  4. Connect to vehicle using Toolbox 3.0

    Vehicle OBD II connection is integrated into drivers lower IP cover, Open Toolbox 3 website and establish connection to the vehicle, https://toolbox.teslamotors.com, Select connection status icon at top right corner, and select connect locally (icon will turn green when vehicle is connected)
  5. Select "Actions" and search for "EPB"
  6. Select PROC_EPBL_START-SERVICE-MODEvia Toolbox:(link), click 'Run', and allow routine to complete

    Chock wheel if necessary, Select ‘X’ at top right of window to close once complete
  7. Remove the LH rear wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  8. Position oil drain under LH rear brake caliper
  9. Release LH rear brake line from upper control arm

  10. Disconnect EPB harness connector from LH rear brake caliper

  11. Remove LH rear brake caliper

    2x bolts, 21 mm, 150 Nm, 1x banjo bolt, 11mm, 42 Nm

Install

  1. Install LH rear brake caliper onto LH rear knuckle

  2. Remove bolt securing LH rear caliper to bracket

    1x bolt, 14mm, 40 Nm
  3. Rotate LH rear caliper upward
  4. Install brake pads onto LH rear caliper bracket

    2x pads, Ensure pads seat correctly onto guides
  5. Install LH rear caliper pad return springs

    2x springs, Hold pads first then install springs, Install one at a time
  6. Rotate LH rear caliper downward

    Hold pads to ensure correct fitment
  7. Install bolt securing LH rear caliper to bracket

    1x bolt, 14mm, 40 Nm
  8. Connect LH rear EPB harness

    1x connector, Engage locking tab
  9. Remove oil drain from underneath vehicle
  10. Lower vehicle partially and set lift onto locks

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered, Set vehicle to comfortable working height
  11. Hold brake pedal and select park on UI to disable EPB service mode
  12. Bleed the affected brake. See Brake Fluid Bleed - One Caliper.
  13. Pump brake pedal a few times to ensure pedal feels normal
  14. Select "Actions" tab and search for ‘"Stiffness"
  15. Select TEST_BRAKE_X_STIFFNESS-TEST-SERVICEvia Service Mode:Chassis ➜ Brakes ➜ Brake Stiffness Testvia Service Mode Plus:chassis ➜ ESP Replacement Panel ➜ Stiffness Testvia Toolbox:(link), click "Run", and allow routine to complete
  16. Disconnect Toolbox 3 from vehicle and remove laptop
  17. Install rear underhood apron

  18. Close powered front trunk
