Remove
- Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
- Move the LH front seat fully rearward.
- Open the powered frunk.
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Disconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
- Remove the accelerator pedal side trim. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Pedal - Side Trim (Remove and Install).
- Remove the accelerator pedal. See Accelerator Pedal (Remove and Install).
-
Remove the LH carpet support
foam.
NoteLift up from the rear edge.
-
Release the harness clips (x5) from
the controller.
-
Release the locking tabs, and then
disconnect the X0012 (Steering Column), X0013 (Etherloop), and X0014 (Car Computer)
electrical connectors from the controller.
-
Slowly loosen the bolt that secures
the locking cover to the MV controller, making sure that the cover separates from the
controller squarely, and does not bind.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 8 mm socket
NoteDo not remove the locking cover. Loosen the bolt until it spins freely.NoteIf the cover binds, tighten the bolt until the locking cover is square again, then loosen the bolt while holding the cover square to the controller.NoteUse a power tool to loosen the fastener. -
Disconnect the controller dry side
electrical connectors (x2).
CAUTIONDo not attempt to remove the connectors until the locking cover has been fully released. Removing a connector while the locking cover is still partially engaged could damage the harness connector.NoteEach connector has two tabs, one on the top right side and one on the left lower side of the connector head. Both tabs must be pressed inwards in order for the connector head to clear the locking cover and release successfully.Tip: Press the connector locking tab by hand, and then use a pocket screwdriver to press the locking tab on the other side of the connector.
-
Remove the nuts (x4) that attach the
controller on the bulkhead.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Disconnect the steering electrical connector from the wet side of the
controller.
-
Slowly loosen the bolt that secures
the locking cover to the LH MV controller wet side locking tab, making sure that the
cover separates from the controller squarely, and does not bind.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 8 mm socket
NoteDo not remove the locking cover. Tilt the controller as necessary.NoteIf the cover binds, tighten the bolt until the locking cover is square again, then loosen the bolt while holding the cover square to the controller.Tip: Approach the connector from the right for better access.NoteUse a power tool to loosen the fastener. -

-
Disconnect the electrical connector,
and then remove the controller from the vehicle.
NoteManeuver the controller around the steering actuator.
Install
-
Position the controller on the
bulkhead.
NoteManeuver the controller around the steering actuator.
-
Secure the controller wet side
electrical connectors (x2).
NoteLeave the steering electrical connector (at the lower left corner of the controller) disconnected so that there is room for access. It will be connected in a later step.NoteCarefully insert the connectors through the locking covers, and then gently wiggle the connector heads to ensure they are correctly inserted.NoteMake sure the pins on the connector are aligned before fastening the locking cover bolts.NoteThe connectors should be slightly loose, but the tab engagement will prevent them from being disconnected.Tip: Approach the connector from the right for better access.
-
Slowly tighten the bolt that secures
the locking cover to the LH MV controller wet side locking tab, making sure that the
cover is square to the controller, and does not bind.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 8 mm socket
NoteIf the cover binds, loosen the bolt until the locking cover is square again, then tighten the bolt while holding the cover square to the controller.NoteTilt the controller toward the bulkhead.Tip: Approach the connector from the right for better access.Tip: While tightening the bolt, press the connector into the controller to keep it square. -
Connect the steering electrical connector on the wet side of the controller.
-
Install the nuts (x4) that attach the
controller on the bulkhead.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
