Inspect Underbody Fastener Torque

Procedure

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to Controls > Ride Height > Very High to set the air suspension ride height to “Very High”.
  3. Navigate to Service > Jack Mode to place the air suspension into "Jack Mode".
  4. Remove the LH and RH rocker covers. See Rocker Panel Trim - Rocker Assembly - LH (Remove and Install).
  5. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  6. Raise the vehicle fully.
  7. Remove the LH and RH lower tow eye cap. See Front Grille and Applique - Lower Tow Eye Cap - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the front fascia plastic skid plate. See Undertray - Skid Plate (Remove and Install).
  9. Remove the front aero shield. See Undertray - Front Aeroshield (Remove and Install).
  10. Remove the fasteners that attach the front skid plate to the vehicle, and then remove the skid plate from the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm socket
    • 11 mm socket
  11. Remove the LH and RH front lower control arm shields. See Rear Suspension Arms - Rear Lower Arm Aeroshield - LH (Remove and Install).

  12. Remove the rear aeroshield. See Undertray - Rear Aeroshield (Remove and Install).
  13. Remove the LH and RH rear lower control arm shields. See Rear Suspension Arms - Rear Lower Arm Aeroshield - LH (Remove and Install).
  14. Verify the bolts (x2) that attach the front chassis structure to the vehicle are torqued to specification.
    220 Nm (162.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 24 mm socket
  15. Verify the nuts (x4) that attach the front chassis structure to the vehicle are torqued to specification.
    215 Nm (158.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 24 mm socket
  16. Verify the bolts (x4) that attach the front chassis structure to the vehicle are torqued to specification.
    220 Nm (162.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 21 mm socket
  17. Verify the bolts (x4) that attach the LH and RH front air spring modules to the front lower control arms are torqued to specification.
    140 Nm (103.2 lbs-ft)

    CAUTION
    If the fasteners are not torqued to specification, they must be replaced.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 21 mm socket
  18. Verify the bolts (x16) that attach the HV battery to the vehicle are torqued to specification.
    62 Nm (45.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm socket
  19. Verify the bolts (x6) that attach the HV battery to the vehicle are torqued to specification.
    115 Nm (84.8 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 18 mm socket
  20. Verify the bolts (x4) that attach the rear chassis structure to the vehicle are torqued to specification.
    355 Nm (261.8 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 24 mm socket
  21. Verify the bolts (x4) that attach the LH and RH rear air spring modules to the rear lower control arms are torqued to specification.
    140 Nm (103.2 lbs-ft)

    CAUTION
    If the fasteners are not torqued to specification, they must be replaced.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 21 mm socket
  22. Install the LH and RH rear lower control arm shields. See Rear Suspension Arms - Rear Lower Arm Aeroshield - LH (Remove and Install).
  23. Install the rear aeroshield. See Undertray - Rear Aeroshield (Remove and Install).
  24. Install the LH and RH front lower control arm shields. See Rear Suspension Arms - Rear Lower Arm Aeroshield - LH (Remove and Install).
  25. Position the front skid plate to the vehicle, and then install the fasteners that attach the skid plate to the vehicle.
    50 Nm (36.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm socket
    • 11 mm socket
  26. Install the front aero shield. See Undertray - Front Aeroshield (Remove and Install).
  27. Install the front fascia plastic skid plate. See Undertray - Skid Plate (Remove and Install).
  28. Install LH and RH rocker covers. See Rocker Panel Trim - Rocker Assembly - LH (Remove and Install).
  29. Lower the vehicle until the tires are touching the ground.
  30. Remove the vehicle from the lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  31. Install the LH and RH rocker covers. See Rocker Panel Trim - Rocker Assembly - LH (Remove and Install).
  32. On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to Controls > Service > Jack Mode to remove the vehicle from "Jack Mode".
  33. On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to Controls > Ride Height > Medium to set the suspension height to "Medium".
  34. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
