-
Position the RDU heat exchanger into the vehicle, and then install the bolts (x2)
that attach the heat exchanger to the RDU.NoteMake sure the O-rings do not pinch during installation.Tip: Use a flexible magnet socket to position the bolt during installation.Tip: Use multiple extensions and a universal joint to aid access.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- External Torx Plus EP10
-
Connect the coolant hoses (x2) to the RDU heat exchanger, and then secure the spring
clips.
NotePerform a push-pull-push test to ensure the hoses are fully seated.
- Remove the coolant drain container from underneath the vehicle.

-
On the vehicle touchscreen, touch
Stop Thermal Fill Drain, and allow the routine to
complete.
NoteMake sure the routine is successful.
-
Remove the coolant bottle cap.
-
Inspect the coolant level and top off
as necessary.
NoteMake sure that the fluid level is at the Max line.
-
On the vehicle touchscreen, touch
Start Coolant Air Purge.
NoteWait until coolant pumps stop running (audible noise). Routine Passed will appear, but pumps will run for 10 minutes. If another routine is started during this time, this routine will fail. Make sure the vehicle is not in "Drive". The routine is still running despite the completed message. Test will vary speeds from 3500-6500 RPM and actuate valves between SERIES and PARALLEL. Putting vehicle into "Drive" will stop this routine. If speeds hover at 7000 RPM, this indicates the pumps are air locked - perform a vacuum fill. Continue to add coolant and purge until the coolant level is between the NOM and MAX Lines on the bottle.
- Install the coolant bottle cap.
- Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
-
On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate
to Thermal > Actions > Test Thermal Performance, touch
