Breather Housing - Front Drive Unit (Remove and Install)

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  2. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  3. Place the vehicle into Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  4. Navigate to Refrigerant System through UI

    Select Service Mode > Thermal > Refrigerant System
  5. Select "Start Thermal Fill Drain (Coolant and Refrigerant)" through UI

    Allow routine to complete, ensure routine is successful
  6. Open the powered frunk.
  7. Remove the front skid plate. See Skid Plate (Remove and Install).
  8. Remove the front aero shield. See Aeroshield - Front (Remove and Install).
  9. Disconnect CFM connectors

    2x connectors, 2x clips
  10. Place coolant catcher below RH front of vehicle
  11. Lower vehicle until tires are touching the ground

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered
  12. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Install).
  13. Remove the frunk assembly. See Frunk Assembly (Remove and Install).
  14. Remove the front fascia assembly. See Front Fascia (Remove and Install).
  15. Remove lower CFM fasteners

  16. Remove fore crossmember

    2x bolts, 18mm, 90 Nm, Push up on CFM, Use hammer if needed, Recommend assistance
  17. Disconnect radiator to manifold hose from radiator

    1x spring clip, Remove from vehicle, Plug hoses
  18. Disconnect manifold to radiator hose from radiator

  19. Release harness from CFM

    1x grommet, 2x connectors, 5x harness clips, Pull red locking tab to disengage louver connector, Release temperature sensor then disconnect, Release grommet and pull harness through from frunk area
  20. Remove upper CFM fasteners

  21. Remove CFM

    Recommend assistance, Remove from below impact beam, Ensure harness is not pinched during removal
  22. Remove front drive unit breather housing

    1x hose, 1x breather, 24mm, 5 Nm, Release breather hose from housing
  23. Install front drive unit breather housing

    1x hose, 1x breather, 24mm, 5 Nm, Secure breather hose to housing
  24. Install CFM

    Install from bottom, Assistance recommend Manipulate as required, Ensure harness is not pinched during install
  25. Connect CFM connectors

    2x connectors, Engage locking tab
  26. Install upper CFM fasteners

    2x bolts, 10mm, 10 Nm
  27. Secure harness to CFM

    1x grommet, 2x connector, 1x harness clip, Secure grommet then connect temperature sensor, Engage locking tab on louver connector
  28. Connect radiator inlet coolant hose

    1x spring clips,Ensure hose is fully engaged with a push-pull-push test
  29. Connect radiator to manifold hose to radiator

  30. Install fore crossmember

    2x bolts, 18mm, 90 Nm, Lift CFM away from beam to aid in clearance, Install beam by sliding rewards
  31. Install lower CFM fasteners

  32. Install the front fascia assemlby. See Front Fascia (Remove and Install).\
  33. Perform cooling system vacuum fill. See Cooling System (Vacuum Refill).
  34. Access thermal system routines using the UI

    Select quick controls > Service mode > Thermal > Actions
  35. Select "Stop Thermal Fill Drain" through UI

    Allow routine to complete, ensure routine is successful
  36. Select "Start Coolant Air Purge" using the UI

    Note
    Touch time only, wait until coolant pumps stop running (audible noise), Routine Passed will appear, but pumps will run for 10 minutes, If you start next another routine during this time it will fail, Make sure vehicle is not in "Drive", Routine is still running despite the completed message, Speeds can be monitored in garage under PT Thermal tab, Idle speed = ~1500 RPM, Test will vary speeds from 3500-6500 RPM and actuate valves between SERIES and PARALLEL, Putting vehicle into "Drive" will stop this routine, If speeds hover at 7000 RPM, this indicates the pumps are air locked, perform a vacuum fill, Continue to add coolant and purge until the coolant level reaches between the NOM and MAX Lines on the bottle
  37. Install the front aero shield. See Aeroshield - Front (Remove and Install).
  38. Install the front skid plate. See Skid Plate (Remove and Install).
  39. Lower vehicle until tires are touching the ground

  40. Perform Thermal Performance through the UI

    Select Thermal > Actions > Test Thermal Performance, click Run, close once routine is completed, if thermal test fails follow toolbox articles 206000
  41. Install the frunk assembly. See Frunk Assembly (Remove and Install).
  42. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Install).
  43. Close the powered frunk.
  44. Remove the vehicle from the lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  45. Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  46. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
