Cover - Seat Back - 2nd Row - LH (5-Seat) (Remove and Replace)

Torque Specifications

Replace

Remove

  1. Remove the LH 2nd row seatback. See Seat Back - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  2. Place the LH 2nd row seatback assembly on a safe and stable work area.

    CAUTION
    Fold down the center armrest to stabilize the weight, and use a ballast bag for additional support as needed.
  3. Fold the LH 2nd row seat back to the upright position.
  4. Remove the LH 2nd row outboard and inboard headrest guide locks. See Guide Lock - Headrest - 2nd Row (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the LH 2nd row escutcheon. See Escutcheon - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the LH 2nd row seat back shoulder switch. See Shoulder Switch – Seat Back – 2nd Row – LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the LH 2nd row seatback panel. See Back Panel – 2nd Row Seat – RH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove and discard the lower anchor bolt that attaches the seat belt to the lower seat frame.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm deep socket
    • 6 in extension
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  9. Remove the LH 2nd row outer B-cover. See B-Cover - Outer - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Remove the clips that attaches the upholstery support to the LH 2nd row seat rail.
  11. Disconnect the LH 2nd row seat heater electrical connector, and then remove the clip that attaches the connector to the seat.
  12. Lift the upholstery support up to unhook it from the LH 2nd row seat rail.
  13. Feed the center retractor seat belt through the upholstery.
  14. Release the hook and tabs (x20) that attach the LH 2nd row seat back upholstery trim flaps from the upholstery support.
  15. Gently separate the upholstery from the foam backing starting from the bottom of the lower seat back working upward.

    Note
    Make sure the Velcro does not tear off the cushion.
  16. Use diagonal cutters to cut the hog rings (x3) at the center of the seat back, and then release the cover from the hog rings.
  17. Separate the remaining portion of the LH seat back upholstery trim cover from the seat.

    For NA only: The seat cover without ISOFIX flag for child locks must be replaced.

Install

  1. Starting from the upper seat back, install the LH seat back upholstery trim cover.

    Note
    Massage the Velcro while working downward toward the center of the seat back.
  2. Use hog ring pliers to crimp new hog rings (1566544-00-A x3) to the LH seat back upholstery trim cover at the center of the seat back.
  3. Attach the remaining portion of the LH seat back upholstery trim cover to the seat.
  4. Install the hook and tabs (x20) that attach the LH 2nd row seat back upholstery trim flaps to the upholstery support.
  5. Feed the center retractor seat belt through the upholstery.
  6. Install the upholstery support onto the LH 2nd row seat rail.
  7. Attach the connector clip, and then connect the LH 2nd row seat heater electrical connector.
  8. Attach the clips that attach the upholstery support to the LH 2nd row seat rail.
  9. Install the LH 2nd row outer B-cover. See B-Cover - Outer - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Install a new lower anchor bolt that attaches the seat belt to the lower seat frame.
    40 Nm (29.5 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm deep socket
    • 6 in extension
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  11. Install the LH 2nd row seatback panel. See Back Panel – 2nd Row Seat – RH (Remove and Replace).
  12. Install the LH 2nd row seat back shoulder switch. See Shoulder Switch – Seat Back – 2nd Row – LH (Remove and Replace).
  13. Install the LH 2nd row escutcheon. See Escutcheon - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  14. Install the LH 2nd row outboard and inboard headrest guide locks. See Guide Lock - Headrest - 2nd Row (Remove and Replace).
  15. Fold down the LH 2nd row seat back.
  16. If used, remove the ballast bag.
  17. Install the LH 2nd row seatback. See Seat Back - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
