Trim - Cushion - Front Passenger Seat (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Check that the firmware is version 2023.2.11 or above. If the firmware version is not 2023.2.11 or above, update the vehicle firmware.
  2. Remove the front passenger seat from the vehicle. See Seat Assembly - 1st Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the front passenger seat outboard side shield. See Side Shield - Outboard - Driver Seat (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the front passenger seat inboard side shield. See Side Shield - Inboard - Driver Seat (Remove and Replace).
  5. Lay the seat on its seat back to gain access to the underside of the seat cushion.

    CAUTION
    Protect the seat cushion from damage as necessary.
  6. Release the clips that attach the shell apron to the underside of the seat.
  7. Disconnect the heat pad electrical connector.
  8. Slide the heat pad connector forward to release it from the seat bottom.
  9. Disconnect the seat cushion heat pad from the module.
  10. Disconnect the seat cushion heat pad connector from the seat back head pad connector.
  11. Slide the seat cushion connector upward to release it from the seat assembly.
  12. Disconnect seat occupied sensor connector.
  13. Release the clip that attaches the seat occupied sensor to the seat underside, and then separate the sensor from the seat underside.
  14. Release the clips (x2) that attach the seat cushion foam to the seat suspension.
  15. Release the clip strips (x3) that attach the seat cushion trim to the seat cushion frame at the front, inboard, and outboard sides, and then remove the foam from the frame.

    CAUTION
    Make sure that the seat cushion heater mat connector and the seat occupied sensor assembly do not catch on the seat suspension or frame.
  16. Return the seat to the upright position.
  17. Lift straight up to remove the cushion pad assembly from the seat frame assembly.

    Make sure the heating pad and seat occupied sensor harnesses are clear of the seat frame.
  18. Release the strap that attaches the seat cushion trim to the foam pad.
  19. Remove the clips (x18) that attach the seat cushion trim to the foam pad, and then remove the trim from the foam pad.

Install

  1. Position the seat cushion trim onto the foam pad, and then reinstall the clips (x18) that attach the seat cushion trim to the foam pad.
  2. Attach the strap that attaches the seat cushion trim to the foam pad.
  3. Position the cushion pad assembly onto the seat cushion frame for installation.

    Insert the rear of the seat cushion to seat bottom frame and then lower the rest on the seat cushion to the seat bottom frame. Make sure the wiring harness is routed through the back of seat frame.
  4. Lay the seat on its seat back to gain access to the underside of the seat cushion.

    Protect the seat cushion from damage as necessary.
  5. Install the seat cushion foam pad to the seat cushion frame, and then fasten the clip strips (x3) that attach the seat cushion to the frame at the outboard and inboard sides, and at the front.

    Note
    Make sure that the seat heater connector and seat occupied sensor assembly pass through the seat suspension or frame.
  6. Fasten the clips (x2) that attach the seat cushion to the seat suspension.
  7. Connect the seat cushion heat pad from the module.
  8. Install the seat cushion connector to the seat assembly.
  9. Connect the seat cushion heat pad connector to the seat back head pad connector.
  10. Install the heat pad connector to the seat frame.
  11. Connect the heat pad connector.
  12. Install the seat occupied sensor to the seat underside, and then fasten the clip that attaches the sensor to the seat underside.
  13. Connect the occupied sensor connector.
  14. Move the seat to the upright position.
  15. Install the front passenger seat inboard side shield. See Side Shield - Inboard - Driver Seat (Remove and Replace).
  16. Install the front passenger seat outboard side shield. See Side Shield - Outboard - Driver Seat (Remove and Replace).
  17. Install the front passenger seat from the vehicle. See Seat Assembly - 1st Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  18. If servicing the front passenger seat in a North American vehicle:
    1. Remove all objects from the front passenger seat before beginning calibration.
    2. On the vehicle touchscreen, touch Controls (Vehicle Icon) > Software and check the vehicle firmware version. If the vehicle firmware is 2023.2.11 or newer, perform a software reinstall. See Software Reinstall - Touchscreen. If the vehicle firmware is not 2023.2.11 or newer, update the vehicle firmware. See Software Update.
    3. Locally connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
    4. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
    5. In Toolbox, click on the Actions tab, and then search for "OCS".
    6. Run the PROC_OCS1P_SELF-CALIBRATIONSearch for routine in ToolboxSafety & Restraints / Seats - OCS1P Self Capacitance Calibration routine.
    7. Click on the Actions tab, and then search for "Seat calibration".
    8. Run the PROC_VCRIGHT_SEAT-CALIBRATESearch for routine in Toolbox routine.
    9. Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle.
