Master Cylinder and Reservoir Assembly (Remove and Replace)

Remove
- Open LH front door
- Lower LH front window

Raise and support vehicle
NoteEnsure vehicle is not charging before lifting it off the ground, Set air suspension to "Jack Mode" if equipped
- Open hood

Remove rear apron
Note14x clips
-
Remove access panel
Note3x clips, 1x connector
-
Remove fasteners securing the frunk assembly
Note5x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm, Newer vehicles may be equipped with 1x push clip securing frunk to reservoir neck

Remove frunk assembly from vehicle
Note6x clips, Replace any clips if broken or missing
- Remove all four wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).

Lower vehicle partially and set lift onto locks
NoteRaise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered, Set vehicle to comfortable working height

Power off vehicle from center display
NoteVia Controls > Safety & Security > Vehicle Power > Power Off

Disconnect 12V negative terminal and first responders loop
Note1x nut, 10mm, 6 Nm, 1x connector, Ensure vehicle is in park, climate control system is off, and vehicle is not charging before disconnecting 12V, Negative terminal should be disconnected before FRL, Allow 2 minutes for all electrical circuits to fully discharge

Remove LH wiper arm nut cover
Note1x cover

Remove the nut securing the LH wiper arm to wiper module
Note1x nut, 15mm, 25 Nm
-
Disconnect washer hose from LH wiper arm to Y-tube fitting and release washer hose clip
Note1x clip, 1x hose
- Remove the LH wiper arm and hose assembly from vehicle
-
Remove RH wiper arm nut cover
Note1x cover
-
Remove the nut securing the RH wiper arm to wiper module
Note1x nut, 15mm, 25 Nm
-
Disconnect washer hose from RH wiper arm to Y-tube fitting and release washer hose clip
Note1x clip, 1x hose
- Remove the RH wiper arm and hose assembly from vehicle
-
Disconnect washer hose from washer pump to Y-tube fitting and release washer hose clip
Note1x clip, 1x hose

Remove cowl screen retaining clips
Note2x push clips
-
Release the cowl clips at the center bracket
Note2x retaining clips
-
Remove cowl screen from vehicle
Note2x clips, Release the corners of the cowl by pulling away from the body then lift the cowl off of the windshield

Disconnect brake fluid reservoir
Note1x connector, Slide locking tab away from connector to fully release
- Place absorbent material underneath brake booster and reservoir area
- Clean area around brake fluid reservoir and remove brake reservoir cap
- Remove fluid from brake fluid reservoir
- Install brake reservoir cap

Disconnect forward brake line from master cylinder
Note1x nut, 12mm, 16 Nm

Disconnect rear brake line from master cylinder
Note1x nut, 12mm, 16 Nm

Remove nuts securing brake master cylinder to brake booster
Note2x nuts, 13mm, 20 Nm
-
Remove brake master cylinder from vehicle
NoteMake sure the o-ring come off with brake master
Install

Install brake master cylinder to vehicle
NoteMake sure i-booster rod is aligned with brake master cylinder during installation

Install nuts securing brake master cylinder to brake booster
Note2x nuts, 13mm, 20 Nm
-
Connect rear brake line into master cylinder
Note1x nut, 12mm, 16 Nm
-
Connect forward brake line into master cylinder
Note1x nut, 12mm, 16 Nm
- Remove absorbent material from underneath brake booster assembly and reservoir area
-
Connect brake fluid reservoir connector
Note1x connector, Secure locking tab by sliding towards connector once installed

Install cowl screen assembly
Note2x clips, Press the corners of the cowl into the body
-
Install the cowl clips at the center bracket
Note2x retaining clips

Install cowl screen retaining clips
Note2x clips

Connect washer hose from washer pump to Y-tube fitting and secure washer hose clip
Note1x clip, 1x hose
- Install the RH wiper arm and hose assembly onto vehicle
-
Install the nut securing the RH wiper arm to wiper module
Note1x nut, 15mm, 25 Nm, Make sure the wiper tip is aligned between the two indicators at corner of windshield

Install RH wiper arm nut cover
Note1x cover

Connect washer hose from RH wiper arm to Y-tube fitting and secure washer hose clips
Note1x clip, 1x hose
- Install the LH wiper arm and hose assembly onto vehicle
-
Install the nut securing the LH wiper arm to wiper module
Note1x nut, 15mm, 25 Nm, Make sure the wiper tip is aligned between the two indicators at windshield

Install LH wiper arm nut cover
Note1x cover

Connect washer hose from LH wiper arm to Y-tube fitting and secure washer hose clip
Note1x clip, 1x hose
- Fill brake bleeder reservoir to full level
- Clean area around brake fluid reservoir and remove brake reservoir cap

Top off brake fluid reservoir
NoteTop off brake fluid as needed
- Install pressure bleeder adapter onto reservoir
-
Set brake bleed reservoir pressure to 30 psi
NoteConnect power supply to bleeder and turn on the power, Set pressure to 30 psi, Attach brake bleed reservoir to brake bleed adapter

Bleed the LH and RH front brake
calipers and the RH and LH rear brake calipers through the brake calipers' inner bleed valves until clean
fluid without air bubbles flows out of the caliper.
NoteIt is not necessary to bleed the brake calipers through the outer bleed valves.
- Flush the LH front caliper using the inner bleed valve until a noticeable reduction in air bubbles is observed.
- Flush the RH front caliper using the inner bleed valve until a noticeable reduction in air bubbles is observed.
- Flush the RH rear caliper using the inner bleed valve until a noticeable reduction in air bubbles is observed.
- Flush the LH rear caliper using the inner bleed valve until a noticeable reduction in air bubbles is observed.
- Bleed the LH front caliper using the inner bleed valve. See Brake Fluid Bleed/Flush for details.
- Bleed the RH front caliper using the inner bleed valve. See Brake Fluid Bleed/Flush for details.
- Bleed the RH rear caliper using the inner bleed valve. See Brake Fluid Bleed/Flush for details.
- Bleed the LH rear caliper using the inner bleed valve. See Brake Fluid Bleed/Flush for details.
- Make sure to perform the brake stiffness test. See Brake Fluid Bleed/Flush for details.
- Pump the brake pedal a few times to ensure the brake pedal feels normal

Using Toolbox 3:
- Remove HSD cable from Ethernet port to disconnect Toolbox 3.0 from vehicle

Raise vehicle partially and lower lift onto locks
NoteSet vehicle to a comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side
- Install all wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).

Install rear apron
Note14x clips, Hold rear wall of frunk to keep from flexing while engaging front clips
- Close hood

Remove vehicle from lift
NoteLower rack arms fully and remove from under vehicle if necessary, Remove air suspension from "Jack Mode" if equipped
- Raise LH front window
- Close LH front door

Perform a test drive using a series of
ABS active stops and make sure proper brake pedal feel and performance is
achieved.0
