Install (Non-EU type spoiler)
The below procedure applies to the installation of the Non-EU type spoiler. For installation of the EU type spoiler, see Install (EU type spoiler).
-
Clean the spoiler
installation surface with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) wipes, and allow it to dry
before continuing.
NoteClean any moisture or contaminates that might be present from rain or vehicle washing, otherwise this might result in poor adhesion of the rear spoiler.NoteIf the trunk surface requires any paint correction, request assistance from the body shop or shop detailer before the installation of the rear spoiler.NoteIt is recommended to perform this procedure indoors. Acceptable ambient and part temperature for installation is 15-43 degrees Celsius (60-110 degrees Fahrenheit) for proper adhesion.
-
Install the base of the
spoiler jig onto the trunk lid so that the cutout aligns with the Tesla "T"
emblem.
CAUTIONThe base of the spoiler jig is held in place using magnets; take care not to damage the paint.
- Remove the label from the underside of the spoiler to expose the guide hole for the spoiler jig.
-
Install the spoiler jig onto
the rear spoiler so that the guide hole on the spoiler is centered between
the notches in the spoiler jig.
CAUTIONTake care not to damage the topside of the spoiler.
-
Install the alignment jig so
that the bottom tab is inserted into the guide hole on the spoiler and the
side tabs are inserted into the notches on the spoiler jig.
NoteThe alignment jig is used to make sure the spoiler jig is completely centered on the spoiler prior to installation.
- Secure the spoiler jig to the top of the spoiler using masking tape.
-
Remove the alignment jig
from the spoiler jig.
CAUTIONBe careful not to allow the spoiler jig to move out of position.
- Remove the adhesive backing from the bottom of the rear spoiler.
- Install the rear spoiler onto the trunk lid by aligning the guide pins on the bottom of the spoiler jig to the slots in the base of the spoiler jig. While performing this step, carefully hold both corners of the rear spoiler away from the trunk lid in order to install the center section of the rear spoiler first.
- Remove the spoiler jig and tape from the rear spoiler. Remove the base of the spoiler jig from the trunk lid.
- Starting at the center of the rear spoiler, firmly push downward and forwards towards the front of the vehicle. Continue this working outwards towards the ends of the spoiler to completely wet out the adhesive on the bottom of the rear spoiler.

Clean the spoiler
installation surface with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) wipes, and allow it to dry
before continuing.
NoteClean any moisture or contaminates that might be present from rain or vehicle washing, otherwise this might result in poor adhesion of the rear spoiler.NoteIf the liftgate surface requires any paint correction, request assistance from the bodyshop or shop detailer before installation of the rear spoiler.NoteIt is recommended to perform this procedure indoors. Acceptable ambient and part temperature for installation is 15-43 degrees Celsius (60-110 degrees Fahrenheit) for proper adhesion.
-
Position the RH corner jig
on the RH corner of the liftgate so that the protruding edge of the jig
aligns with the edge of the liftgate panel, and then clamp the jig with a
hold down tool to keep the jig in position.
- Repeat the previous step on the LH side of the liftgate for the LH corner jig.
- Position the center jig by matching the cutout shape to the T-badge. The jig should contact the T-badge on both the top of the arch and the RH side of the T-leg.
- Clamp the center jig with a hold down tool to keep the jig in position.
- Carefully position the rear spoiler above the liftgate so that the LH and RH sides of the rear spoiler coincide with the openings in the side jigs and the top center part of the rear spoiler is aligned with the top of the center jig.
- Attach each end of the rear spoiler to the liftgate.
- Remove the spoiler alignment jigs from the vehicle.
