Panel Assembly - Rear (Remove and Replace)

Torque Specifications

Reuse

Remove

  1. Remove the LH and RH taillights. See Taillight - LH (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the rear fascia. See Fascia - Rear (Remove and Install).
  3. Remove the bolt and release the tab that attach the Bluetooth passive entry module to the rear fascia center bracket, and then set the harness aside.

    Note
    When releasing the module from the bracket, rotate the LH side away from the bracket to release the tab.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • 4 in extension
  4. Remove the center rear bracket. See Bracket - Rear - Center (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the rear bumper beam or the trailer hitch assembly (if applicable). See Bumper Beam - Rear (Remove and Replace) or Assembly - Trailer Hitch (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the lower trunk assembly. See Trunk Assembly - Lower (Remove and Replace).
  7. Lift the rear primary seal from the rear end panel.
  8. Remove the bolts that attach the rear end panel to the body.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • 4 in extension
  9. Remove the rear end panel from the vehicle.

    Note
    Slide the rear end panel rearward to free the panel from body.

Install

  1. Position the rear end panel from the vehicle.

    Align the panel with the body studs.
  2. Install the bolts that attach the rear end panel to the body.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • 4 in extension
  3. Seat the rear primary seal onto the rear end panel.
  4. Install the lower trunk assembly. See Trunk Assembly - Lower (Remove and Replace).
  5. Install the rear bumper beam or the trailer hitch assembly (if applicable). See Bumper Beam - Rear (Remove and Replace) or Assembly - Trailer Hitch (Remove and Replace).
  6. Install the center rear bracket. See Bracket - Rear - Center (Remove and Replace).
  7. Install the bolt and tab that attach the Bluetooth passive entry module to the rear fascia center bracket.
    3.5 Nm (2.6 lbs-ft)

    Rotate the left side inward to install the tab.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • 4 in extension
  8. Install the rear fascia. See Fascia - Rear (Remove and Install).
  9. Install the LH and RH taillights. See Taillight - LH (Remove and Replace).
