Power Strut - Liftgate (Remove and Replace)

Torque Specifications

Screw that attaches the LH coat hook to headliner

  • T20 socket
  • 2 in extension
 Reuse

Remove

  1. Open the liftgate and LH rear door.
  2. Push open the LH coat hook, remove the screw cover, and then remove the screw that attaches the LH coat hook to headliner.
    1 Nm (.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • T20 socket
    • 2 in extension
  3. Remove the LH trunk side trim. See Trim - Side - Trunk - LH (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the LH upper C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Release the LH rear section of the headliner assembly.
  6. Disconnect the power strut electrical connector from the body harness.
  7. Release the tabs that attach the electrical harness grommet to the body, and then release the grommet from the body.
  8. Support the liftgate with a prop.
  9. Release the lower liftgate power strut ball stud that is attached to the vehicle.
  10. Release the upper liftgate power strut ball stud that is attached to the liftgate, and then remove the strut from the vehicle.

Install

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal.
