Switch and Camera Assembly - Exterior Release - Liftgate (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. If necessary, remove the license plate and bracket. See Bracket - License Plate - Rear (EMEA and APAC) (Remove and Replace) or Bracket - License Plate - Rear (NA) (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the liftgate lower trim. See Trim - Liftgate - Lower (Remove and Replace).
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the liftgate exterior release switch and the rear facing camera.
  4. Release the clips that attach the liftgate exterior release switch assembly to the liftgate.
  5. Remove the switch and camera assembly from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Install the switch and camera assembly to the vehicle.
  2. Install new clips that attach the liftgate exterior release switch assembly to the liftgate.
  3. Connect the electrical connectors to the liftgate exterior release switch and the rear facing camera.
  4. Install the liftgate lower trim. See Trim - Liftgate - Lower (Remove and Replace).
  5. Install the license plate and bracket, if applicable. See Bracket - License Plate - Rear (EMEA and APAC) (Remove and Replace) or Bracket - License Plate - Rear (NA) (Remove and Replace).
  6. For HW3 Vehicles, perform the following:
    1. Enable Service Mode. See Service Mode.
    2. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
    3. On the touchscreen, tap the Service Mode "wrench" (at the bottom of the touchscreen UI), and then tap Driver Assist > Cameras > Clear Camera Calibration, select RearView in the Camera Selection drop list, click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
    4. Disable Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  7. For HW4 vehicles, perform the following:
    1. Locally connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
    2. On the touchscreen, tap the Service Mode "wrench" (at the bottom of the touchscreen UI), and then tap Driver Assist > Cameras > Clear Camera Calibration, select RearView in the Camera Selection drop list, click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
    3. In Toolbox, click the Actions tab, type "Calibration Mode" into the search field, click PROC_DAS_X_ENTER-CALIBRATION-MODEvia Toolbox: (link), click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
    4. Click the Actions tab, type "Back Up" into the search field, click PING-HTTP_DAS_X_BACKUP-CAMERA-SCRIPTvia Toolbox: (link), change the timeout to 100, click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
    5. Click the Actions tab, type "Calibration Mode" into the search field, click PROC_DAS_X_EXIT-CALIBRATION-MODEvia Toolbox: (link), click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
    6. Disconnect the laptop.
    7. On the touchscreen, press and hold the Exit Service Mode button to exit Service Mode Plus.
  8. Verify that the rear facing camera works properly.
