Sensor - Shotgun Accelerometer - LH (Remove and Replace)

Make sure 12V/LV power has been disconnected for at least 2 minutes before disconnecting the electrical harness from Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) components, such as Restraint Control Module, sensors, airbags, etc. Failure to do so can result in unintended safety system behaviors. For more information on SRS precautions, see Airbag and Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) Precautions.

Torque Specifications

Reuse

Remove

  1. Disconnect 12V power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  2. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the shotgun accelerometer sensor by pulling out the tab and then releasing the electrical connector.
  4. Remove the bolt that attaches the shotgun accelerometer sensor to the vehicle, and then remove the sensor.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • ¼ in std ratchet

Install

  1. Using the datum on the sensor as a guide for installation location on the body, install the bolt that attaches the shotgun accelerometer sensor to the vehicle.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • ¼ in std ratchet
    • ¼ in torque wrench (installation)
  2. Connect the electrical connector to the shotgun accelerometer sensor and then push in the tab to make sure it is fully connected.

    CAUTION
    Make sure the connection is fully secure and that the tab is pushed in.
  3. Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  4. Connect 12V power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
