Harness - Instrument Panel (Remove and Replace)
Correction code 17100602 2.10 NOTE: Unless otherwise explicitly stated in the procedure, the above correction code and FRT reflect all of the work required to perform this procedure, including the linked procedures. Remove
- Open all the doors and lower all the windows.
- Move the front seats forward and raise the seat cushions to the highest positions.
- Remove the center console lower rear panel. See Panel - Lower Rear - Center Console (Remove and Replace).

Remove the bolt that
attaches the LH and RH rear of the center console to the body.
NoteUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
- 4 in extension
- ¼ in std ratchet
- ¼ in torque wrench (installation only)
- Move the front passenger seat backward.
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
- Disconnect 12V/LV power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Remove the LH instrument panel end cap. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace)
- Remove the LH mid A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH upper A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH center console side panel carpet. See Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).

Remove the bolts that attach
the LH front of the center console to the body.
NoteUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
- 4 in extension
- ¼ in std ratchet
- ¼ in torque wrench (installation only)
- Remove the driver footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Driver (Remove and Replace).

Remove the driver knee
airbag. See Airbag - Knee - Driver (Remove and Install).
NoteFor HW 4.0 vehicle, just skip this step.
- Remove the LH footwell duct. See Duct - Footwell - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Repeat step 9 through step 14 for the RH side of the vehicle.
- Remove the center console. See Center Console (Remove and Install).
- Remove front passenger footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Passenger (LHD) (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the front passenger knee airbag. See Airbag - Knee - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace).

Remove the IP carrier
assembly. See IP Carrier (Remove and Install).
NoteStart from step 15 in the procedure.
- Remove the LH air wave duct. See Duct - Air Wave - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the clip that attaches the LH carpet to the vehicle, and then fold the carpet rearward.

Release the connector lock,
and then disconnect the J10 dash electrical connector from the LH body
controller module.
NoteUse masking tape to label the connector as "J10" to avoid connecting the incorrect connector during installation.
- Disconnect the J11 HVAC electrical connector from the LH body controller module.

Release the harness clip
from the instrument panel near the LH body controller module.

Disconnect the electrical
connector from the electric steering column.
-
Release the clips (4) that
attach the harness to the steering column.
-
Release the clips (x2) that
attach the blower motor harness to the cross car beam.
-
Release the clips (x2) that
attach the harness to the HVAC box.
NoteThere is an additional hold down clip towards the top of the HVAC box where the center speaker and tweeter are located.

Disconnect the blower motor
electrical connector.
-
Release the clip and tabs
(x4) that attach the center console support bracket to the vehicle, and then
remove the bracket from the vehicle.
-
Release the clip located
next to the RCM.
-
Disconnect the RCM
electrical connector.
-
Release the instrument panel
harness clip located next to the RCM.
-
Release the instrument panel
harness clip from the body of the vehicle near the RH cross car beam
bracket.
-
Release the instrument panel
harness clip from the cross car beam.
-
Release the instrument panel
harness clips (x3) and harness holder from the top of the cross car beam,
and then release the HVAC harness from the instrument panel harness.
NoteThe number of clips may vary on newer vehicles.

Release the clips (x4) that
attach the instrument panel harness to the RH side of the HVAC
assembly.
-
Remove the instrument panel
harness clips (x3) and harness holder from the RH side of the cross car
beam, and then release the HVAC harness from the instrument panel
harness.
NoteThe number of clips may vary on newer vehicles.

Disconnect the connectors
(x2) from the car computer.
- Release the clip that attaches the RH front carpet to the body at the RH A-pillar.
- Fold back the RH front carpet.
- Disconnect the J10 instrument panel electrical connector from the RH body controller module.

Remove the clip that
attaches the carpet to the RH cross car beam bracket.
-
Remove the bolt that
attaches the RH cross car beam bracket to the cross car beam.NoteUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket

Remove the nut that attaches
the RH cross car beam bracket to the body, and then remove the bracket from
the vehicle.NoteUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket

Remove the instrument panel
harness from the center console area, and then move the harness aside.
- Remove the instrument panel harness from the cross car beam.
Install
- Position the instrument panel harness into the cross car beam for installation.

Position the instrument panel harness into the center console area.
-
Position the RH cross car beam bracket to the cross car beam, and then
install the bolt that attaches the bracket to the cross car beam.NoteUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket

Install the nut that attaches the RH cross car beam bracket to the
body.NoteUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket

Install the clip that attaches the carpet to the RH cross car beam
bracket.
- Connect the J10 instrument panel electrical connector to the RH body controller module.
- Fold the RH front carpet back into position, and then install the clip that attaches the RH front carpet to the body at the RH A-pillar.

Connect the connectors (x2) to the car computer.

Install the instrument panel harness clips (x3) and harness holder to the
RH side of the cross car beam, and then secure the HVAC harness to the
instrument panel harness.
NoteThe number of clips may vary on newer vehicles.

Install the clips (x4) that attach the instrument panel harness to the RH
side of the HVAC assembly.

Install the instrument panel harness clips (x3) and harness holder to the
top of the cross car beam, and then secure the HVAC harness to the
instrument panel harness.
NoteThe number of clips may vary on newer vehicles.

Install the instrument panel harness clip to the cross car beam.
-
Install the instrument panel harness clip to the body of the vehicle near
the RH cross car beam bracket.
-
Position the center console support bracket into the vehicle, and then
secure the clip and tabs (x4) that attach the bracket to the vehicle.

Install the instrument panel harness clip located next to the RCM.
-
Connect the RCM electrical connector.
-
Install the clip located next to the RCM.
-
Connect the blower motor electrical connector.
-
Secure the clips (x2) that attach the harness to the HVAC box.
NoteThere is an additional hold down clip towards the top of the HVAC box where the center speaker and tweeter are located.

Secure the clips (x2) that attach the blower motor harness to the cross car
beam.
-
Secure the clips (4) that attach the harness to the steering column.
-
Connect the electrical connector to the electric steering column.
-
Secure the harness clip to the instrument panel near the LH body controller
module.
- Connect the J11 HVAC electrical connector from the LH body controller module.
- Connect the J10 dash electrical connector to the LH body controller module, and then secure the connector lock.
- Fold the LH carpet back into position, and then install the clip that attaches the LH carpet to the vehicle.
- Install the LH air wave duct. See Duct - Air Wave - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the IP carrier assembly. See IP Carrier (Remove and Install).
- Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
