Glass - Door - LH - Rear (Adjust)

Warning
The side impact airbag deployment depends on the rear door sensor's ability to detect a side impact from air pressure. Make sure that there are no uncovered holes in the rear door shells. Additionally, always reinstall plugs or tape when servicing or inspecting the rear doors and their components.

Torque Specifications

Reuse

Procedure

  1. Remove the LH rear door trim panel. See Panel - Door Trim - Rear - LH (Remove and Install).
  2. Remove the plugs (x2) that cover the openings in the door to gain access to the bolts that attach the window glass.
  3. Connect the LH rear door harness to the LH rear door task light.
  4. Connect the window switch special tool and adjust the window to access the regulator guide blocks.
  5. Loosen the fasteners (x2) that attach the window glass to the window regulator clamps about 1/2 turn to maintain the position of the window but still allow adjustment.

  6. Release LH front door latch by pulling the emergency release cable.
  7. Close the LH rear door.
  8. Raise the LH rear window using the driver's master switch.
  9. Check the gap and flush on the LH rear window and adjust it, if necessary.
    1. Open the LH rear door.
    2. Latch the LH rear door to allow window height adjustment.

      CAUTION
      Do not close the door with the window fully raised, as upper bright trim will be damaged.
    3. Using the window switch tool, adjust the glass for access to the regulator guide blocks.
    4. Adjust the front of the moving glass to achieve flush target to the B-pillar applique.

      Note
      Use a 5mm hex socket (newer vehicles might use Torx T25) to adjust the friction pad to tilt the glass inboard or outboard.
    5. Adjust the rear of the moving glass to achieve flush target to quarter glass assembly.

      Use a 5mm hex socket (newer vehicles might use Torx T25) to adjust the friction pad to tilt the glass inboard or outboard.
    6. Adjust the moving glass to achieve the gap target, and then hand tighten the regulator fasteners (x2).
  10. Release LH front door latch by pulling the emergency release cable.
  11. Close the LH rear door.
  12. Check the LH rear window for gap and flush and re-adjust, if necessary.
  13. Open the LH rear door.
  14. Latch the LH rear door to allow window height adjustment, and then adjust the window for access to the regulator guide blocks.

    CAUTION
    Do not close the door with the window raised fully, as upper bright trim will be damaged.
  15. Inspect the regulator guide blocks for glass splinters or other debris, and clean them if necessary.

    Debris and splinters may damage or shatter the new door glass.
  16. Tighten the fasteners that attach the window glass to the window regulator.
    12 Nm (8.8 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • 2 in extension
  17. Release the LH rear door latch by pulling the emergency release cable.
  18. Lower the LH rear window.
  19. Install the plugs (x2) that cover the openings in the door for access to the fasteners securing the glass.
  20. If installed, disconnect the window switch special tool and reconnect the window switch electrical connector.
  21. Install the LH rear door trim panel. See Panel - Door Trim - Rear - LH (Remove and Install).

    Note
    Disconnect and reroute the LH rear door task light harness as needed, and then reconnect the task light.
  22. Recalibrate the window regulator. See Window Regulator (Recalibrate).
  23. Exit the vehicle and close the LH front and rear doors.
  24. Remove the masking tape from the vehicle.
