Sensor - Radar - Front (Calibration)

Calibrate

Note
For China, Japan, and Macao only: for vehicles with Autopilot 3.0, if the firmware is factory/2023.32.100 or feature/2023.32.9 or later and Tesla Vision is supported, this procedure is not required.
  1. If this procedure is referenced in a different repair procedure: make sure the vehicle is equipped with radar before proceeding.
    1. Enter Service Mode. See Service Mode.
    2. On the touchscreen, tap the Service Mode "wrench" (at the bottom of the touchscreen UI), and then tap Driver Assist > Sensors, and confirm Radar is shown on the screen.
    3. If Radar or Sensors is not available, discontinue this procedure.

  2. Disable the "Pin to Drive" feature if it has been enabled.

    Note
    The radar calibration cannot complete if "Pin to Drive" is enabled.
  3. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle.
  4. With an assistant, use Toolbox to perform a radar drive cycle calibration:

    Perform the calibration procedure in a suitable location and comply with all local traffic safety laws.

    Note
    Be prepared to drive the vehicle once the calibration process is initiated. The calibration routine takes between 2 to 5 minutes to complete. When finished, calibration results are displayed in a pop-up message in the calibration routine window.
  5. In Toolbox, open the "Radar Calibration Dashboard".
    • For existing radar applications, continue to step 6.
    • For newly installed radar applications (post-radar swap), SELECT Learn Vehicle Parameters for Continental RadarPROC_RADC_X_PLANT-MODEModelSX/tasks/PROC_RADC_X_PLANT-MODE Gen3/tasks/PROC_RADC_X_PLANT-MODEDriver Assistance Driver Assistance and then click Run. Wait for the routine to complete.
  6. Select "Radar Calibration Routine" and then click Run.
  7. Observe the on-screen driving instructions to prepare for the calibration procedure, and then click OK.
  8. Press the brake pedal, and then shift into Drive.
  9. Select "Service Radar Alignment" and then click Run.
  10. Release the brake pedal and proceed to drive the vehicle to begin the calibration procedure.
  11. Make sure that no radar related alerts are triggered.
  12. If the test drive shows the vehicle to track poorly or pull to the side, or if steering is sloppy or off center, then perform a four wheel alignment check. See Four Wheel Alignment Check.
  13. Re-enable "Pin to Drive" if it was previously disabled.
