Trim - Cushion - Driver Seat (Clip Fasteners) (Remove and Replace)

Warning
Seat base edges are sharp and can cause personal injury. Wear cut resistant gloves when removing the seat from the vehicle, and while performing procedures that involve work on or near the seat base.

Remove

  1. Open all the doors and lower all the windows.
  2. On the touchscreen, tap the vehicle icon at the bottom left corner, then tap Controls > Steering Wheel, and use the left steering wheel roller to adjust the steering column to the highest and most inward position.
  3. Remove the LH lower A-Pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove and discard the bolts (x4) that secure the driver seat assembly. See Seat Assembly - 1st Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Release the clips that attach the LH front seat harness to the LH front seat harness guide.
  6. Pull the LH front seat harness out from under the LH front cabin carpet.
  7. Use cloth to cover the center console and the rear seat to prevent damage.
  8. Tilt the LH front seat backward.
  9. Remove the driver seat outboard side shield. See Side Shield - Outboard - Driver Seat (Remove and Replace).
    Note
    During removal, certain steps require extra care. See the animation(s) for detailed guidance.
  10. Unhook the clips that attach the lower section of the seat back trim and move the seat back flap away from the working area.
  11. Disconnect seat occupied sensor connector.
  12. Release the clip that attaches the seat occupied sensor to the seat underside, and then separate the sensor from the seat underside.
  13. Disconnect the seat cushion heat pad connector, and then separate the connector from the seat underside.
  14. Release the clips (x2) that attach the seat cushion foam to the seat suspension.
  15. Release the clip strips (x3) that attach the seat cushion trim to the seat cushion frame at the front, inboard, and outboard sides, and then remove the foam from the frame.
    CAUTION
    Make sure that the seat cushion heater mat connector and the seat occupied sensor assembly do not catch on the seat suspension or frame.
  16. Remove the seat cushion foam pad assembly from the seat frame assembly.
  17. Release the strap that attaches the seat cushion trim to the foam pad.
  18. Remove the clips (x18) or the Velcro that attach the seat cushion trim to the foam pad, and then remove the trim from the foam pad.
    CAUTION
    For vehicles using Velcro, extra caution is required when removing the cushion trim. During removal, press the foam-side Velcro with your fingers and peel it away gradually to prevent the foam-side Velcro from separating from the foam.

Install

  1. Position the seat cushion trim onto the foam pad, and then reinstall the clips (x18) or the Velcro that attach the seat cushion trim to the foam pad.

  2. Attach the strap that attaches the seat cushion trim to the foam pad.
  3. Place the cushion pad assembly onto the seat cushion frame for installation.
  4. Fasten the clip that attaches the seat cushion heater connector to the seat underside, and then connect the seat heater mat connector.
  5. Install the seat occupied sensor to the seat underside, and then fasten the clip that attaches the sensor to the seat underside.
  6. Secure the clip that attaches the seat occupied sensor to the seat assembly, and then connect occupied sensor electrical connector.
  7. Fasten the clips (x2) that attach the seat cushion to the seat suspension.
  8. Install the seat cushion foam pad to the seat cushion frame, and then fasten the clip strips (x3) that attach the seat cushion to the frame at the outboard and inboard sides, and at the front.
    Note
    Make sure that the seat heater connector and seat occupied sensor assembly pass through the seat suspension or frame.
  9. Attach the clips that attach the lower section of the seat back trim to the seat suspension.
  10. Install the driver seat outboard side shield. See Side Shield - Outboard - Driver Seat (Remove and Replace).
  11. Position the driver seat assembly in the upright position.
  12. Install the LH front seat harness under the LH front cabin carpet.
  13. Route the 1st row LH seat harness under the LH front carpet, position the harness in the harness guide, and then install the clips (x4) that attach the harness to the sill trim.
    Note
    Tuck the excess harness between the harness bracket and body.
  14. Remove the protection cloth.
  15. Install new bolts (x4) that secure the driver seat assembly. See Seat Assembly - 1st Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  16. Install the LH lower A-Pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  17. Move the LH front seat to its original position.
  18. Move the steering wheel to its original position.
  19. Raise all windows and close all doors.
