Retainer - Flood Port - LH (Remove and Replace)

  1. Raise and support vehicle

    Ensure vehicle is not charging before lifting it off the ground, Set air suspension to "Jack Mode" if equipped
  2. Open all four doors

    Latch rear doors to prevent accidental closing when vehicle is powered down
  3. Lower all windows
  4. Connect to vehicle using Toolbox 3.0
  5. Click in the Search field to display menu and select "Tools"
  6. Under "Tools" menu, select "Active Alerts"
  7. Select "Read Alerts" to see currently active alerts

    Verify vehicle does not have BMS alerts present: BMS_a151, BMS_a035, or BMS_a123, If any alerts are present, check for cause of low isolation before continuing
  8. Remove HSD cable from Ethernet port to disconnect Toolbox 3.0 from vehicle
  9. Move LH front seat forward
  10. Move RH front seat forward
  11. Remove 2nd row seat cushion

    1x connector, Lift front edge of seat cushion upward to release foam from frame
  12. Open hood
  13. Remove rear apron

  14. Remove fresh air intake duct

    1x bolt, 10mm, 4 Nm, 2x clips, 1x pin, Remove bolt, Gently pry pin out from thermal beam, then remove from bulkhead studs
  15. Power off vehicle from center display

    Via Controls > Safety & Security > Vehicle Power > Power Off
  16. Disconnect 12V negative terminal and first responders loop

    1x nut, 10mm, 6 Nm, 1x connector, Ensure vehicle is in park, climate control system is off, and vehicle is not charging before disconnecting 12V, Negative terminal should be disconnected before FRL, Allow 2 minutes for all electrical circuits to fully discharge
  17. Remove all items from pockets and ensure not wearing metal items
  18. Inspect HV insulating gloves

  19. Put on HV insulating gloves and leather over gloves

    Make sure to wear Electrical Protective Gloves any time Hioki tester is used
  20. Remove the bolts securing ancillary bay probe lid cover to ancillary bay cover

    2x bolts, EP10 5-Lobe, 6 Nm, Discard after removal
  21. Remove the ancillary bay probe lid cover from the ancillary bay cover
  22. Verify no high voltage

    Make sure to wear PPE (HV gloves, safety glasses) when working on high voltage component, Measure B+ to Ground, B- to Ground, B+ to B-, If voltage is greater than 10V, Pack contactors are not open or welded, Stop work and reach out to Service Engineering
  23. Remove HV insulating gloves
  24. Inspect ancillary bay probe lid cover gasket then position onto the ancillary bay cover

    Confirm no visual damage present, Replace gasket if damage is found
  25. Install the bolts securing ancillary bay probe lid cover to ancillary bay cover

    2x bolts, EP10 5-Lobe, 6 Nm, Install new rubber washer bolts
  26. Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side
  27. Remove push clips at left and right wheel house liner to mid aero shield

  28. Remove mid aero shield

    13x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm
  29. Release LH side hose clip from rear battery skid plate

  30. Release RH side hose clips from rear battery skid plate

    2x fir tree clips
  31. Remove lower bolts securing HV battery rear skid plate enclosure

    Note
    2x bolts, EP10, 13 Nm, Older vins may be equipped with additional fastener count
  32. Remove upper nut securing HV battery rear skid plate enclosure

    1x nut, 10mm, 13 Nm, Fastener count may vary on older built vehicles
  33. Remove upper bolts securing rear battery enclosure skid plate from HV battery

    4x bolts, 13mm, 35 Nm
  34. Remove rear battery enclosure skid plate from HV battery pack
  35. Position coolant drain container underneath LH rear of HV battery
  36. Disconnect HV battery return tube from LH rear of HV battery

    1x spring clip, 1x plug, Plug HV battery side, Allow coolant to drain from hose
  37. Disconnect RDU inverter inlet hose from rear of HV battery and plug both ends

  38. Install the removal tool into the LH flood port and tighten

    Turn the thumb screw clockwise until tight
  39. Release the tabs on the LH flood port and push the flood port up

    4x retaining tabs
  40. Remove the LH flood port assembly from the battery pack and remove the flood port removal tool

    Turn the flood port to release from battery
  41. Insert the inner portion of the LH flood port and twist until the tangs on the flood port align with the battery pack
  42. Install the outer portion of the LH flood port onto the battery pack

    Align the tangs on the outer portion of the flood port to the openings on the battery pack, The outer portion of the flood port will only be installed slightly at this point
  43. Install the clamp on the inner portion of the LH flood port, above the lip
  44. Install the fixed "U" clap onto the outer portion of the inner clap and loosely tighten the thumb screw
  45. Tighten the thumb screw until the inner portion of the flood port is beyond the retaining tabs of the outer portion

    Outer portion should sit flush with battery pack
  46. Remove both clamps from the LH flood port

    Check fit of the flood port, it should have very little movement
  47. Remove plugs and connect RDU inverter inlet hose to rear of HV battery

    1x spring clip, Perform push-pull-push test to make sure hose is fully seated
  48. Remove plug and connect HV battery return tube to LH rear of HV battery

  49. Remove coolant drain container from underneath vehicle
  50. Position rear battery enclosure skid plate to HV battery for installation
  51. Install upper bolts securing rear battery enclosure skid plate to HV battery hand tight

  52. Install lower bolts securing HV battery rear skid plate enclosure

  53. Install upper nut securing rear battery enclosure skid plate hand tight

  54. Install LH side hose clip to HV battery rear skid plate enclosure

  55. Install RH side hose clips to rear battery skid plate

    2x fir tree clips
  56. Apply Loctite 222 onto mid aero shield bolts and install mid aero shield

    9x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm
  57. Install push clips at left and right wheel house liner to mid aero shield

  58. Lower vehicle fully

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered
  59. Remove vehicle from lift

    Lower rack arms fully and remove from under vehicle if necessary, Remove air suspension from "Jack Mode" if equipped
  60. Remove breather from ancillary bay probe lid cover

    Discard after removal
  61. Install the enclosure leak test adapter to ancillary bay probe lid cover and connect it to regulator test tool
  62. Close both valves on the regulator test tool
  63. Connect regulator to air supply
  64. Turn right side regulator valve to the open position

    By turning the valve knob to a horizontal position, The valve is fully open
  65. Set regulator to 0.150 psi
  66. Open the left side regulator valve to inject air into the ancillary bay

    Close right side regulator valve when the pressure reaches 0.150 psi and stabilizes
  67. Wait 45 seconds for pressure to settle
  68. Record value of starting pressure
  69. Wait 60 seconds to test pressure
  70. Record value of end pressure

    If pressure did not drop more than 0.0231 psi, continue to next step. If pressure dropped more than 0.0231 psi, then inspect for leaks.
  71. Disconnect air supply from regulator tool
  72. Disconnect leak test adapter from regulator test tool and remove it from ancillary bay probe lid cover
  73. Install new breather plug into the ancillary bay probe lid cover

  74. Install 2nd row seat cushion

    1x connector, Slide rear cushion rearward then align foam with seat rail, Make sure cushion is fully seated with push & pull test
  75. Remove coolant bottle cap
  76. Fill coolant to the proper level

    Ensure that the fluid level filled to the Max line
  77. Connect first responder loop and 12V negative terminal

    1x nut, 10mm, 6 Nm, 1x connector, Engage locking tab, Connect FRL first before connecting 12V to avoid damage to car computer
  78. Connect to vehicle using Toolbox 3.0
  79. Select ‘Actions/Autodiag’ tab and search for ‘ Purge'
  80. Select ‘TEST_VCFRONT_X_THERMAL-COOLANT-AIR-PURGEvia Toolbox: (link)via Service Mode:
    • Thermal ➜ Actions ➜ Coolant Purge Stop or Coolant Purge Start

    • Drive Inverter ➜ Front Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
    • Drive Inverter ➜ Rear Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
    • Drive Inverter ➜ Rear Left Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
    • Drive Inverter ➜ Rear Right Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
    • Drive Unit ➜ Front Drive Unit Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge

    Make sure vehicle is not in drive state, Plan is still running despite the stop message, Coolant pumps will be audible, Test lasts approximately 10 mins, Idle speed = ~1500 RPM, Test will vary speeds from 3500-6500 RPM and actuate valve between SERIES and PARALLEL, Putting vehicle into drive state will stop this routine, If speeds hover at 7000 RPM, that means the pumps are air locked, perform vacuum fill again, Continue to add coolant and purge until the coolant level reaches between the NOM and MAX Lines on the bottle, Select ‘X’ at top right of window to close once complete
  81. Remove HSD cable from Ethernet port to disconnect Toolbox 3.0 from vehicle
  82. Inspect coolant level and top off as necessary

  85. Install rear apron

  86. Close hood
  87. Move RH front seat to original position
  88. Move LH front seat to original position
  89. Raise all windows
  90. Close all four doors
