Control Arm - Upper - Front - LH (Structural Pack) (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Remove the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  3. Remove the LH front fender garnish. See Garnish - Fender - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the LH front wheel arch liner. See Wheel Arch Liner - Front - LH (Structural Pack) (Remove and Replace).
  5. Release the clips (x4) that attach the LH front wheel speed sensor harness to the LH front suspension knuckle and upper control arm.
  6. With assistance, remove the bolt and nut that attach the LH front upper control arm to the knuckle.

    Note
    Compress the joint to remove the bolt.

    Note
    Discard the nut after removal.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • T47IP socket
    • 15 mm socket
  7. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH front upper control arm to the body.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  8. Remove the LH front upper control arm from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Position the LH front upper control arm onto the body.
  2. Install and hand tighten the bolts (x2) that attach the LH front upper control arm to the body.

    The bolts will be torqued at a later step.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  3. Measuring from the casting flat pocket to top of LH front upper control arm, hold the control arm at 125mm, and then hand tighten the fore bolt to set the ride height.

    The bolts will be torqued at a later step.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
    • Chassis Height Measurement Tool - 1071271-00-A
  4. While holding the LH front upper control arm at the correct ride height, torque the bolts (x2) that attach the control arm to the body.
    50 Nm (36.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
    • Chassis Height Measurement Tool - 1071271-00-A
  5. Check the LH front upper control arm ride height and adjust as needed.

    Note
    The measurement range is 120mm-130mm. If the measurement is outside of range then adjustment must be performed again.
  6. With assistance, install the bolt and new nut that attach the LH front upper control arm to the knuckle.
    56 Nm (41.3 lbs-ft)

    Compress the joint to install the bolt.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • T47IP socket
    • 15 mm socket
  7. Install the clips (x4) that attach the LH front wheel speed sensor harness to the LH front suspension knuckle and upper control arm.
  8. Install the LH front wheel arch liner. See Wheel Arch Liner - Front - LH (Structural Pack) (Remove and Replace).
  9. Install the LH front fender garnish. See Garnish - Fender - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Install the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  11. Refer to the Alignment Requirement tables to determine whether an EPAS alignment check (EC) or four wheel alignment check (AC) is necessary. If performed, add the alignment check/adjust as a separate activity. See Alignment Requirement - Suspension.
