Brake Pad Kit - Rear (Sport Brakes) (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  2. Remove the LH and RH rear wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  3. Place the vehicle into EPB Service Mode. See Parking Brake - Caliper - Rear - LH (Release).
  4. Using a flat head screwdriver, compress the brake piston by carefully pushing the caliper away from the brake rotor.
  5. Remove the rubber cap that covers the upper LH rear caliper to caliper bracket bolt.
  6. Remove the upper bolt that attaches the LH rear brake caliper to the LH rear caliper bracket.
  7. Remove the lower bolt that attaches the LH rear brake caliper to the LH rear caliper bracket.
  8. Use a brake caliper S-hook to hang the LH rear caliper on the body.
  9. Remove the brake pad from the LH rear brake caliper.
  10. Remove the brake pad from the LH rear brake caliper bracket.
  11. Brush the LH rear brake caliper and LH rear brake caliper bracket anti rattle springs with soapy water.

Install

  1. Install the brake pad on the LH rear brake caliper bracket.
    Tip: During installation, press the brake pad away from the brake rotor.
  2. Install the brake pad on the LH rear brake caliper.

    Note
    Mate the brake pad spring clips to the LH rear caliper cutouts.
  3. Position the LH rear caliper on the LH rear caliper bracket.

    CAUTION
    To prevent damage to the flexible brake hose, make sure that the brake hose can bend forward and does not make contact with the wheel arch liner when the vehicle is lowered.
  4. Install the lower bolt that attaches the LH rear caliper to the LH rear caliper bracket.
    90 Nm (66.4 lbs-ft)
  5. Install the upper bolt that attaches the LH rear caliper to the LH rear caliper bracket.
    90 Nm (66.4 lbs-ft)
  6. Install the rubber cap that covers the upper LH rear caliper to caliper bracket bolt.
  7. Repeat steps 4 to 6 for the RH rear brake pads.
  8. Install the LH and RH rear wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  9. Lower the vehicle, and then shift the vehicle into Park.
  10. Pump the brake pedal to seat the pads against the brake rotor until the brake pedal feels firm.
  11. Perform a road test and burnish the brake pads. See Brake Pads - Burnishing.
