Hose - Return - Powertrain (Structural Pack) (Remove and Replace)

Remove
- Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
- Remove the LH rocker panel carrier. See Carrier - Rocker Panel - LH (Structural Pack) (Remove and Replace).

Remove the butyl (x2) patches that cover the LH rocker access holes.

Install lift pad adapters (x2) into the LH rocker.
WarningUse Model Y lift pad adapters (1614078-00-A) only.
- Repeat step 2 through step 4 for the RH side of the vehicle.

Raise and support the vehicle.
WarningVerify the jack locations prior to lifting the vehicle. ONLY place on lifting points at the front and rear of rocker panels.
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).

Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the HEPA filter assembly to the vehicle, and then remove the assembly from the vehicle.NotePivot the rear edge of the assembly upward to clear the brake reservoir, and then lift the assembly upward to clear the underhood storage unit.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10mm socket
- Disconnect LV power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Raise the vehicle to a comfortable working height.
- Position a coolant drain container underneath the RH front of the HV battery.

Release the spring clip, disconnect the powertrain return hose at the RH front of the vehicle, and then plug the male and female fittings.
- Position the coolant drain container underneath the RH rear of the HV battery.

Release the spring clip, disconnect the powertrain return hose at the RH rear of the vehicle, and then plug the male and female fittings.

Release the clamps (x6) and brackets (x6) that attach powertrain return hose to the vehicle, and then remove the hose from the vehicle.
NoteEach clamp has 3 datums that need to be released from 3 bracket holes.
Install

Position the powertrain return hose into the vehicle, and the secure the clamps (x6) and brackets (x6) that attach the hose to the vehicle.
NoteEach clamp has 3 datums that need to be secured onto the 3 bracket holes.

Remove the plugs, connect the powertrain return hose at the RH rear of the vehicle, and then secure the spring clip.
- Position the coolant drain container underneath the RH front of the HV battery.

Remove the plugs, connect the powertrain return hose at the RH rear of the vehicle, and then secure the spring clip.
- Remove the coolant drain container from underneath the vehicle.
- Lower the vehicle fully.
- Disconnect LV power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Inspect the coolant level and top off as necessary.
- Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle.
- In Toolbox, click the Actions/Autodiag tab, and then search for ‘ Purge'.

- Thermal ➜ Actions ➜ Coolant Purge Stop or Coolant Purge Start
- Thermal ➜ Coolant System ➜ Coolant Purge Start
- Drive Inverter ➜ Front Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
- Drive Inverter ➜ Rear Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
- Drive Inverter ➜ Rear Left Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
- Drive Inverter ➜ Rear Right Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
- Drive Unit ➜ Front Drive Unit Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
- Drive Unit ➜ Rear Drive Unit Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
NoteMake sure the vehicle is not in drive state. Putting the vehicle into drive state will stop the routine. Plan is still running despite the stop message. Coolant pumps will be audible. Test lasts approximately 10 mins. - Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop front the vehicle.
- Inspect the coolant level and top off as necessary.
- Remove the vehicle from the lift.

Remove the lift pad adapters (x2) from the LH rocker.

Install butyl patches (x2) onto the LH rocker access holes.
NoteReplace with new patch if needed.NoteApply pressure along the patch to verify it is fully secured to the body.NoteNew butyl patches should be approximately 2 in by 2 ½ in.
- Install the LH rocker panel carrier. See Carrier - Rocker Panel - LH (Structural Pack) (Remove and Replace).
- Repeat step 15 and 17 for the RH side of the vehicle.

Position the HEPA filter assembly into the vehicle, and then install the bolts (x2) that attach the assembly to the vehicle.NotePivot the front edge of the assembly down past the underhood storage unit, and then carefully move the rear edge past the brake reservoir and into position.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10mm socket
- Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
- Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
- Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
