Module - ECU - Occupant Classification System (OCS) - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace)

Seat base edges are sharp and can cause personal injury. Wear cut resistant gloves when removing the seat from the vehicle, and while performing procedures that involve work on or near the seat base.

Remove

  1. Check that the firmware is version 2023.2.11 or above. If the firmware version is not 2023.2.11 or above, update the vehicle firmware.
  2. Open the RH front door and lower the RH front window.
  3. Move the front passenger seat forward and raise the seat to the highest position.
  4. Disconnect the self capacitance trace connector from the OCS ECU module.
  5. Disconnect the RH front seat harness connector from the OCS ECU module.
  6. Release the tabs (x2) that attach the front passenger OCS ECU module to the seat assembly, and then remove the module from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Position the front passenger OCS ECU module to the vehicle, and then secure the tabs (x2) that attach the module to the seat assembly.
  2. Connect the RH front seat harness connector to the OCS ECU module.
  3. Connect the self capacitance trace connector to the OCS ECU module.
  4. Move the front passenger seat to the original position.
  5. Raise the RH front window and close the RH front door.
  6. If servicing the front passenger seat in a North American vehicle:
    1. Remove all objects from the front passenger seat before beginning calibration.
    2. On the vehicle touchscreen, touch Controls (Vehicle Icon) > Software and check the vehicle firmware version. If the vehicle firmware is 2023.2.11 or newer, perform a software reinstall. See Software Reinstall - Touchscreen. If the vehicle firmware is not 2023.2.11 or newer, update the vehicle firmware. See Software Update.
    3. Locally connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
    4. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
    5. In Toolbox, click on the Actions tab, and then search for "OCS".
    6. Run the OCS1P delete Sandwich and calibrate routinePROC_OCS1P_SELF-CALIBRATIONGen3/tasks/PROC_OCS1P_SELF-CALIBRATIONLow Voltage Controllers routine.
    7. Click on the Actions tab, and then search for "Seat calibration".
    8. Run the PROC_VCRIGHT_SEAT-TEST-CALIBRATE routine.
    9. Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle.
