- 2023-04-13: Fixed bugs.
- 2023-04-04: Cleaned up.
Remove
- Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the fresh intake duct.. See Duct - Fresh Intake (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the 12V battery from the vehicle. See 12V/LV Battery (Remove and Replace).
-
Remove the rear battery tie down
strap.
-
Use a clip prytool to release the clip
that attaches 12V battery vent tube to the battery bracket.
- Remove the front aero shield panel from the vehicle. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Non-Structural Pack) (Remove and Replace).
-
Remove push clips (x3) and bolt that
secure the LH front wheel arch liner to the HV battery. NoteUse a bungee strap to pull back the LH front wheel arch liner and secure it to the subframe.
- Position a coolant drain container underneath the LH front side of the HV battery.
-
Release the clips (x2) that secure the
HV battery return hose to the HV battery hose, then plug the hoses.
-
Release the clips (x2) that attach the
battery return hose to the body.
- Remove the coolant drain container underneath the vehicle
- Lower the vehicle fully.
-
Position a fluid catcher underneath
the front of the vehicle.
-
Disconnect the sensor from the chiller
to battery hose and the sensor from the powertrain supply hose.
NoteDo not push down on the red tab, pull the red tab to disengage and pull again to release the connector.
-
Disconnect the chiller to battery hose
and the powertrain supply hose from the supermanifold.
NotePlug the supermanifold as quickly as possible to avoid coolant loss.
-
Disconnect the HV battery return hose
from the supermanifold.
NotePlug the supermanifold as quickly as possible to avoid coolant loss.
-
Remove the clips (x4) secure the
coolant hoses to the AC compressor bracket.
- Remove HV battery return hose from the vehicle
Install
-
Position the new HV battery return
hose into the vehicle.
NoteInstall the HV battery return hose from the RH side of vehicle and feed it towards LH side of vehicle and down into wheel arch liner area.CAUTIONDo not bend or force the hose during installation. Slowly rotate the hose as required.
-
Install the clips (x4) that secure the
coolant hose to the A/C compressor bracket.
-
Install the battery vent tube to the
battery bracket.
-
Install the rear battery tie down
strap.
-
Connect the HV battery return hose to
the supermanifold.
-
Connect the chiller to battery hose
and the powertrain supply hose to the supermanifold.
-
Connect the sensor to the chiller to
battery hose and the sensor to the powetrain supply hose.
- Install the 12V battery to the vehicle. See 12V/LV Battery (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the fluid catcher underneath the vehicle.
- Fully raise the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
- Install the clips (x2) that secure the HV battery return hose to the body.
- Position a coolant drain container underneath the LH front of the HV battery.
-
Remove the plug, and then connect the
HV battery return hose.
NotePerform push-pull-push test to make sure that the hose is fully engaged.
- Remove the coolant drain container underneath the vehicle.
- Release the LH front wheel arch liner from the bungee strap.
-
Install the push clips (x3) and bolt
that secure the LH front wheel arch liner to the HV battery.
- Install the front aero shield. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Non-Structural Pack) (Remove and Replace).
- Lower the vehicle fully. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
- Fill up the coolant reservoir up to the Max level.
- Connect the 12V battery, see 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
-
Remove the coolant bottle cap, and
then fill the coolant to the proper level.
NoteEnsure that the coolant level is at the "Max" line.
- Connect to vehicle using Toolbox 3.0.
-
In Toolbox 3.0, click Actions/Autodiag, type
"Purge" into the search field, click TEST_VCFRONT_X_THERMAL-COOLANT-AIR-PURGEvia Toolbox: (link)via Service Mode:

NoteMake sure vehicle is not in Drive, shifting the vehicle into Drive will stop this routine. The test will last approximately 10 mins. The test will vary speeds from 3500-6500 RPM (idle speed = ~1500 RPM) and actuate the valve between series and parallel. Speeds can be monitored in Garage under PT Thermal tab. If speed hovers at 7000 RPM, it indicates the pump is air locked, perform the vacuum fill again. Continue to add coolant and purge until the coolant level reaches between the NOM and MAX Lines on the bottle. -
Inspect the coolant level and top off
as necessary, and then install the coolant bottle cap.
NoteEnsure that the coolant level is at the "Max" line.
- Install the fresh intake duct. See Duct - Fresh Intake (Remove and Replace).
- Instal the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
