Perform General Inspection (Inspection)

Remove

  1. Open all doors from the exterior. Verify that the door operates normally and does not do any of the following:
    • Collide with the body or brightwork
    • Produce unusual noises such as creaks, groans, or clicks
    • Pause or fail to fully open

  2. Function check all windows from the LH front switch. Document any abnormal operation or noises.
  3. Function check exterior lights. Verify that the following lights operate normally:
    • Headlights (LH and RH)
    • Fog lights (LH and RH)
    • Taillights (LH and RH)
    • Center high mount stopping light (third brake light)
    • Reverse lights (LH and RH)
    • Side repeaters (LH and RH)
    • Front turn signals (LH and RH)
    • Rear turn signals (LH and RH)
  4. Close the door and hood, then function check the windshield wipers and spray jets. Verify the following:
    • The wipers and jets function
    • The wipers move in a full range of motion
    • The wipers move at all speeds
    • The wipers do not interfere with other components
    • The wipers do not produce abnormal noises such as creaks, groans, and clicks
    • The wipers do not pause
  5. Honk the horn. Verify that both high- and low-tone horns produce sound.
  6. Open the hood.
  7. Remove the rear apron

  8. Visually inspect the brake fluid level.
  9. Visually inspect the coolant level. Ensure that the fluid level is at the Max line. Top off as necessary.
  10. Raise the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 4 Post Lift.
  11. Remove the outer fasteners from the front aero shield.
  12. Remove the remaining nuts (x2), and then remove the front aero shield from the vehicle.
  13. Remove LH rear suspension cover

  15. Remove rear aero shield

    11x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm, Fasteners may vary, MYSP will have one less bolt
  16. Check all four tire pressures manually

    4x tires, Set to specification if necessary, Refer to the "Tire and Loading Information" label located on the driver side B-pillar, Inspect wheels and tires for any bulges or damage while checking/setting pressures
  17. Record tread depth for LH rear tire

    Measure and record the outer, center, and inner tread depths, Measure the circumferential tire grooves only, Do not place the tire tread gauge probe on the molded treadwear indicators, Recommend replacement if tread depth is 4/32in (3mm) or less
  18. Perform visual inspection of LH rear brake pads

  36. Install rear aero shield

    11x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm, Fasteners may vary, Model Y Structural Pack has one less bolt and one extra clip, Apply Loctite 222 onto rear aero shield bolts before installing
  37. Install RH rear suspension cover

  38. Install LH rear suspension cover

  39. Position the front aero shield on the vehicle, and then install the nuts that attach the aero shield to the vehicle.
  40. Apply Loctite 222 on the front aero shield bolts, and then install the bolts on the aero shield.
  41. Lower vehicle fully

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered
  42. Remove vehicle from lift

    Lower rack arms fully and remove from under vehicle
  43. Fill washer reservoir with fluid
  44. Install rear apron

  45. Close hood
  46. Perform a road test using a series of ABS-active stops and ensure proper brake pedal feel and performance

    The vehicle must stop completely within 25 feet (7.6 meters) at 20 mph (32 kph), Confirm that no excessive vibration or noise is present
  47. Inspect vehicles alignment

    Confirm steering wheel is straight and no vibrations or noises are felt or heard from the suspension, On a flat road, at 35 mph (56 kph), the vehicle does not pull in either direction
