Bushing - Rear Drive Unit - Rear (4DU) (Remove and Replace)

  1. Remove the drive unit. See Drive Unit - Rear (4DU) (Remove and Install)
  2. Attach the RDU engine stand adapter to the RDU.

    3x bolts, 15mm, 3x nuts, 15mm, hand tight. Assistance is recommended.
  3. Attach the gantry hook to the RDU adapter.
  4. Use the gantry to lift the RDU assembly for installation onto the engine stand.
  5. Move the engine stand into position.
  6. Install the RDU adapter to the engine stand.

    4x bolts, 18mm, 4x nuts 18mm.
  7. Install the bushing removal tool on the gearcase bushing.

    2x nuts, 22mm. Use cups "C", "A", and "G" to drive the bushing out. Always drive on the bearing side and hold the opposite side.
  8. Press gearcase bushing out of the casting.
  9. Separate the bushing tool and remove the gearcase bushing.

Install

  1. Setup the tool to press in the new gearcase bushing.

    2x nuts, 22mm. Use cups "D" and "E" to install the bushing. Always drive on the bearing side and hold the opposite side Ensure the keyway is up and the lug on the bushing is in the center of the "D" cup opening.
  2. Press in the new gearcase bushing.

    Apply spray lubricant to the bushing exterior before installing it.
  3. Separate the bushing tool and remove it from the drive unit.
  4. Using the gantry hook, support the RDU engine stand adapter, and apply tension.
  5. Remove the bolts that attach the RDU engine stand adapter to the engine stand and move the engine stand away.

  6. Lower the RDU and engine stand adapter onto a crate.
  7. Remove the gantry hook from the RDU adapter and move it aside.
  8. Remove the RDU engine stand adapter from the RDU.

  9. Install the drive unit. See Drive Unit - Rear (4DU) (Remove and Install).
  10. Refer to the Alignment Requirement tables to determine whether an EPAS alignment check (EC) or four wheel alignment check (AC) is necessary. If performed, add the alignment check/adjust as a separate activity. See Alignment Requirement - Suspension.
