Reuse

Remove

  1. Disconnect LV power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  2. Remove the driver airbag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  3. Disconnect the steering wheel electrical wiring harness from the connector.
  4. Disconnect the electrical harness from the LH steering wheel switch connector.
  5. Disconnect the electrical harness from the RH steering wheel switch connector.
  6. Release the clips that attach the horn assembly, and then move the horn assembly to the side.
  7. Disconnect the electrical harness from the lower connector, and then remove the electrical harness from the steering wheel.
  8. Remove the bolts that attach the steering wheel surround to the steering wheel.

    Depending on the vehicle batch, some vehicles are equipped with T20 bolts while others are equipped with PH1 bolts.

    Note
    Pry the lower portion of the bright surround assembly away from the steering wheel, and then work your way around. Do not remove it now. Wait until the steering wheel is removed.

  9. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the steering wheel controller to the steering wheel surround, and then remove the controller.

  10. Remove the bolts that attach the lower spoke cover to the steering wheel surround.

Install

  1. Position the lower spoke cover onto the steering wheel surround, and then install the bolts.
    0.9 Nm (8 lbs-in)

    Insert the lower edge of the lower spoke.

  2. Install the bolts that attach the steering wheel controller to the steering wheel surround.

  3. Position the steering wheel surround onto the steering wheel, and then install the bolts.
    2.5 Nm (1.8 lbs-ft)
    1.8 Nm (1.3 lbs-ft)

    Toque the T20 bolts to 2.5 Nm; torque the PH1 bolts to 1.8 Nm.

  4. Install the electrical harness into the steering wheel, and then connect the electrical harness to the lower connector.
  5. Move the horn assembly to the center, and then fasten the clips that attach the horn assembly.
  6. Connect the electrical harness to the RH steering wheel switch connector.
  7. Connect the electrical harness to the LH steering wheel switch connector.
  8. Connect the steering wheel electrical harness to the connector.
  9. Install the driver airbag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  10. Connect LV power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
