Sensor - Level - Windshield Washer (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  2. Position a liquid drain collector under the LH front of the vehicle.
  3. Remove the windshield washer reservoir filler neck. See Filler Neck - Reservoir - Windshield Washer (LHD) (Remove and Replace).

    Washer fluid may spill.
  4. If installed, remove the bolts (x2) that attach the HEPA filter assembly to the vehicle, and then remove the assembly from the vehicle.

    Pivot the rear edge of the assembly upward to clear the brake reservoir, and then lift the assembly upward to clear the underhood storage unit.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 4 in extension
    • 10 mm socket
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  5. Disconnect the electrical harness from the windshield washer level sensor connector.
  6. Use a plastic trim tool to gently pry the windshield washer level sensor from the washer reservoir.

    Washer fluid will spill.
  7. Remove the grommet from the windshield washer level sensor, inspect for damage, and replace if necessary.

Install

  1. Install the grommet into the windshield washer reservoir.
  2. Install the windshield washer level sensor so that the straight edge of the sensor flange matches the recess of the washer tank, and that the sensor connector is at the 4 o'clock position.
  3. Connect the electrical harness to the windshield washer level sensor connector.
  4. If removed, install the HEPA filter assembly to the vehicle, and then install the bolts (x2) that attach the HEPA filter assembly to the vehicle.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Insert the forward edge down past the frunk assembly, and then carefully pivot the rear edge past the brake reservoir and into position. Gently press on the RH side of filter to seat seal onto duct
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 4 in extension
    • 10 mm socket
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  5. Install the windshield washer reservoir filler neck. See Filler Neck - Reservoir - Windshield Washer (LHD) (Remove and Replace).
  6. Top up the windshield washer reservoir with fluid.
  7. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the liquid drain collector out from under the vehicle.
  9. Verify operation of the windshield washer.
