Hose - Chiller to HV Battery (RHD) (RWD) (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open the RH front door and fully lower the RH front window.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  3. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the bolt that attaches the fresh air intake duct to the strut tower brace.
  6. Release the fresh intake duct from the studs (x2) on the bulkhead, and then remove the duct from the vehicle.
  7. Remove the 12V/LV battery from vehicle. See 12V/LV Battery (Remove and Replace).
  8. Release the connector lock, and then disconnect the electrical sensor for the chiller to battery hose
  9. Release the clip, and then disconnect the chiller to battery hose from the supermanifold.
  10. Place an absorbent towel under the car computer coolant connections to collect any spilled coolant.
  11. Release the spring clips (x2) that connect the car computer coolant hoses to the car computer coolant ports, and then disconnect the hoses.
  12. Plug the car computer coolant ports.
  13. Fully raise the vehicle.
  14. Remove the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Non-Structural Pack) (Remove and Replace).
  15. Position a coolant drain container underneath the LH front side of the HV battery.
  16. Remove the clips (x4) that attach the coolant hoses to the AC compressor bracket.
  17. Release the clips that attach the chiller to HV battery hose to the vehicle.
  18. Release the clip that connects the chiller to HV battery hose to the HV battery supply manifold, disconnect the hose, and then plug the male and female fittings.
  19. Remove the chiller to HV battery hose from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Install the chiller to HV battery hose into the vehicle.
  2. Remove the hose plugs, connect the hose, and then fasten the clip that connects the chiller to HV battery hose to the HV battery supply manifold.

    Note
    Perform a push-pull test to verify that the hose is fully seated.

    Coolant loss greater than 1L requires vacuum fill.

  3. Install the clip that attaches the chiller to HV battery hose to the vehicle.
  4. Install the clips (x4) that attach the coolant hoses to the AC compressor bracket.
  5. Remove the coolant drain container from underneath the vehicle.
  6. Install the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Non-Structural Pack) (Remove and Replace).
  7. Fully lower the vehicle.
  8. Remove the plugs from the car computer coolant ports.
  9. Connect the car computer coolant hoses to the car computer coolant ports, and then install the spring clips.

  10. Remove the absorbent towel from under the car computer coolant connections.
  11. Connect the chiller to battery hose to the supermanifold, and then install the clip.

  12. Connect the electrical sensor connector for the chiller to battery hose, and then engage the connector lock.

    Note
    The harness with the purple tape connects to the coolant temperature sensor closest to the coolant bottle.
  13. Remove the coolant bottle cap, and then fill the coolant to the "Max" level.
  14. Connect 12V power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  15. Connect to the vehicle with a laptop with Toolbox 3.0.
  16. In Toolbox, click the Actions/Autodiag tab, and then search for "Purge".
  17. Click TEST_VCFRONT_X_THERMAL-COOLANT-AIR-PURGEvia Toolbox: (link)via Service Mode:
    • Thermal ➜ Actions ➜ Coolant Purge Stop or Coolant Purge Start
    • Thermal ➜ Coolant System ➜ Coolant Purge Start
    via Service Mode Plus:
    • Drive Inverter ➜ Front Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
    • Drive Inverter ➜ Rear Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
    • Drive Inverter ➜ Rear Left Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
    • Drive Inverter ➜ Rear Right Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
    • Drive Unit ➜ Front Drive Unit Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
    • Drive Unit ➜ Rear Drive Unit Replacement ➜ Coolant Air Purge
    , and then click Run and allow the routine to complete.
  18. Inspect the coolant level and top off as necessary, and then install the coolant bottle cap.

    Note
    Ensure that the coolant level is at the "Max" line.
  19. Disconnect the laptop from the vehicle.
  20. Position the fresh intake duct onto the studs (x2) on the bulkhead.
  21. Fasten the bolt that attaches the fresh air intake duct to the strut tower brace.
    4 Nm (2.9 lbs-ft)
  22. Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  23. Raise the RH front window and close the RH front door.
