Seat Backs - 3rd Row (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open all the doors and fully lower all the windows.
  2. Open the liftgate.
  3. Move the front seats fully forward.
  4. Move the 2nd row seats into easy entry mode.
  5. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  6. Disconnect 12V power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  7. Remove the 3rd row seat cushion. See Cushion - Seat - 3rd Row (Remove and Replace).
  8. Disconnect the 3rd row seat frame harness electrical connector.
  9. Remove the RH 3rd row seat cushion bolster. See Bolster - Seat Cushion - 3rd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Remove and discard the bolt that attaches the 3rd row RH seat belt retractor to the seat frame assembly.
    37 Nm (27.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 11 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench

  11. Remove the LH 3rd row seat cushion bolster. See Bolster - Seat Cushion - 3rd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  12. Remove and discard the bolt that attaches the 3rd row LH seat belt retractor to the seat frame assembly.
    37 Nm (27.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 11 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  13. Remove the rear load floor. See Trunk Load Floor - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  14. Remove the trunk sill trim. See Trim - Sill - Trunk (Remove and Replace).
  15. Release the clips and tabs that attach the LH trunk bracket to the vehicle, and then remove the trim. Repeat this step for the RH trunk bracket.

  16. Remove the trunk tub carpet from the vehicle. See Tub - Rear Trunk (Remove and Replace).
  17. Remove and discard the outer bolts that attach the 3rd row seat back assembly to the body.
    37 Nm (27.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  18. Remove and discard the inner bolts that attach the LH 3rd row seat back assembly to the vehicle, and then remove the 3rd row seatback assembly from the vehicle..
    37 Nm (27.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench

Install

  1. Install the 3rd row seat back assembly into the vehicle.
  2. Install and hand tighten new inner bolts that attach the LH 3rd row seat back assembly to the vehicle.
  3. Install and hand tighten new outer bolts that attach the LH 3rd row seat back assembly to the vehicle.
  4. Install and hand tighten a new bolt that attaches the 3rd row RH seat belt retractor to the seat frame assembly.

  5. Install a new bolt that attaches the 3rd row LH seat belt retractor to the seat frame assembly.
    37 Nm (27.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 11 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  6. Torque the bolt that attaches the 3rd row RH seat belt retractor to the seat frame assembly.
    37 Nm (27.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 11 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  7. Torque the outer bolts that attach the 3rd row seat back assembly to the body.
    37 Nm (27.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  8. Torque the inner bolts that attach the LH 3rd row seat back assembly to the vehicle.
    37 Nm (27.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  9. Install the trunk tub carpet from the vehicle. See Tub - Rear Trunk (Remove and Replace).
  10. Position the LH trunk bracket into the vehicle, and then seat the clips and tabs.

  11. Install the trunk sill trim. See Trim - Sill - Trunk (Remove and Replace).
  12. Install the rear load floor. See Trunk Load Floor - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  13. Install the LH and RH 3rd row seat cushion bolsters. See Bolster - Seat Cushion - 3rd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  14. Connect the 3rd row seat frame harness electrical connector.
  15. Install the 3rd seat cushion. See Cushion - Seat - 3rd Row (Remove and Replace).
  16. Connect 12V power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  17. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  18. Move the 2nd row seats and front seat into the original positions.
  19. Raise all the windows and close all the doors.
  20. Close the liftgate.
