HV Harness - HV Battery To A/C Compressor (Structural Pack) (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Remove the LH rocker panel carrier. See Carrier - Rocker Panel - LH (Structural Pack) (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the butyl patches (x2) that cover the LH rocker access holes.

  4. Install lift pad adapters (x2) into the LH rocker.

    Use Model Y lift pad adapters (1614078-00-A) only.

  5. Repeat step 2 through step 4 for the RH side of the vehicle.
  6. Raise and support the vehicle.

    Verify the jack locations prior to lifting the vehicle. ONLY place on lifting points at the front and rear of rocker panels.
  7. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the HEPA filter assembly to the vehicle, and then remove the assembly from the vehicle.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Pivot the rear edge of the assembly upward to clear the brake reservoir, and then lift the assembly upward to clear the underhood storage unit.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10mm socket
  10. Disconnect LV power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  11. Perform vehicle electrical isolation procedure. See Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure (Structural Pack).

    Note
    While the vehicle is lifted, remove the front aero shield panel before removing the mid aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Structural Pack) (Remove and Replace).
  12. Release the connector lock, and then release the HV battery to A/C compressor HV harness connection from the HV battery.

    Hold down the red locking tab and disengage the release lever.

    CAUTION
    Do not force the release lever up.
  13. Release the clips (x4) that attach the HV battery to A/C compressor HV harness to the rear of the HV battery.
  14. Release the clips (x8) that attach the HV battery to A/C compressor HV harness to the side of the vehicle body.
  15. Release the clips (x5) that attach the HV battery to A/C compressor HV harness to the front of the vehicle body.

    Take note of original routing.
  16. Lower the vehicle until the tires are touching the ground.
  17. Release the clip that attaches HV battery to A/C compressor HV harness to the plastic connector housing.

  18. Release the clip that attaches AC compressor logic connector to the HV battery to A/C compressor HV harness.
  19. Release the connector lock, and then disconnect the A/C compressor logic electrical connector.

    Do not push down on red tab. Pull the red tab to disengage the lock, and then pull again to release the connector.
  20. Remove the bolt that attaches the HV battery to A/C compressor HV harness to the A/C compressor.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  21. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the HV battery to A/C compressor HV harness from the A/C compressor.

    Disengage the black locking tab, and then release the connector.
  22. Raise the vehicle to a comfortable working height.
  23. Remove the HV battery to A/C compressor HV harness from the vehicle.

    Take note of the original routing for install.

Install

  1. Position the HV battery to A/C compressor HV harness into the vehicle.
  2. Secure the clips (x4) that attach the HV battery to A/C compressor HV harness to the rear of the HV battery.
  3. Connect the HV compressor electrical connector to the HV battery, and then fully secure the locking lever.

    Note
    Verify the lever is in the upright and open position. Carefully seat the connector and allow the lever to engage. Fully secure the lever and verify the red tab is locked.
  4. Secure the clips (x8) that attach the HV battery to A/C compressor HV harness to the side of the vehicle body.
  5. Secure the clips (x5) that attach the HV battery to A/C compressor HV harness to the front of the vehicle body.

    Note
    Route the harness to position noted in during removal.
  6. Install the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Structural Pack) (Remove and Replace).
  7. Connect the rear drive unit HV cable to the HV battery.

    Verify that the lever is in the upright and open position. Carefully seat the connector and allow the lever to engage. Fully secure the lever and verify that the red tab is locked.
  8. Install the mid aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Mid (Remove and Replace).

    Note
    Apply Loctite 222 onto the mid aero shield bolts.
  9. Lower the vehicle fully.
  10. Secure the clip that attaches HV battery to A/C compressor HV harness to the plastic connector housing.

  11. Connect the HV battery to A/C compressor HV harness to the A/C compressor, and then engage the locking tab.

    Verify the connector is fully seated.
  12. Install the bolt that attaches the HV battery to A/C compressor HV harness to the A/C compressor.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  13. Connect the A/C compressor logic connector, and then engage the locking tab.
  14. Secure the clip that attaches A/C compressor logic connector to the HV battery to A/C compressor HV harness.
  15. Connect 12V/LV power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  16. Position the HEPA filter assembly into the vehicle, and then install the bolts (x2) that attach the assembly to the vehicle.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Pivot the front edge of the assembly down past the underhood storage unit, and then carefully move the rear edge past the brake reservoir and into position.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10mm socket
  17. Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  18. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  19. Remove the vehicle from the lift.
  20. Remove the lift pad adapters (x2) from the LH rocker.

  21. Install butyl patches (x2) onto the LH rocker access holes.

    Replace with new patch if needed.

    Apply pressure along the patch to verify it is fully secured to the body.

    Note
    New butyl patches should be approximately 2 in by 2 ½ in.

  22. Install the LH rocker panel carrier. See Carrier - Rocker Panel - LH (Structural Pack) (Remove and Replace).
  23. Repeat step 20 through step 22 for the RH side of the vehicle.
  24. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
