Remove
- Disconnect LV power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Remove the driver airbag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).

Disconnect the steering
wheel electrical wiring harness connector.

Disconnect the steering
wheel heating element connector.

Remove the steering wheel
ground connection bolt.
TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- PH1 Stubby Phillips Screwdriver
- Torque wrench 1/4" hexagon (0.2Nm-4Nm)

Remove the bolts (x4) that
attach the bright surround to the steering wheel, and then release the
bright surround and switches assembly from the steering wheel.
NoteDepending on the vehicle batch, some vehicles are equipped with T20 bolts while others are equipped with PH1 bolts.NotePry the lower portion of the bright surround assembly away from the steering wheel, and then work your way around. Do not remove it now. Wait until the steering wheel is removed.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T20 bit
- PH1 Stubby Phillips Screwdriver

Remove and discard the bolt
that attaches the steering wheel to the steering column.
TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket

If the new steering wheel
rim comes without an airbag retention wire: Squeeze the wire towards the
middle and remove the airbag retention wire upwards for reuse.
- Remove the steering wheel from the steering column.

Remove steering wheel wiring
harness clip.
NoteThis clip must be easily removable from the back side after the steering wheel is removed, otherwise, it can easily become damaged.
Install

Align the keyed parts of
steering wheel and column.

Install a new bolt that
attaches the steering wheel to the steering column.

If the new steering wheel
rim comes without an airbag retention wire, install the wire removed from
the old rim to the new rim.

Install the bolts (x4) that
attach the bright surround to the steering wheel.
2.5 Nm (1.8 lbs-ft)

Install steering wheel
ground connection bolt.

Connect the steering wheel
heating element connector.
