Hood (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and fully lower the LH front window.
  2. Open the hood.
  3. Use a telescoping hood prop to support the hood.
  4. Use tape to mark the mounting locations of the LH and RH hood hinges on the hood.
  5. With assistance, remove the nuts that attach the hood to the RH hood hinge.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm deep socket
    • 3 in extension
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  6. With assistance, remove the nuts that attach the hood to the LH hood hinge, and then remove the hood from the vehicle and place on a padded surface.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm deep socket
    • 3 in extension
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench

Install

  1. With an assistant, install the hood assembly onto the vehicle and align the tape marks with the hood hinges.
  2. With assistance, loosely install the nuts that attach the hood to the LH hood hinge.
  3. With assistance, loosely install the nuts that attach the hood to the RH hood hinge.
  4. Carefully close the hood, and then check hood fitment.
  5. Perform gap and flush adjustments on the hood assembly, if necessary. See Hood Alignment.
  6. Open the hood, and then torque the LH and RH hinge nuts.
    15 Nm (11.1 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm deep socket
    • 3 in extension
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  7. Clean the LH and RH hood hinge bolts and the surrounding area with isopropyl alcohol (IPA), and then let dry for at least 1 minute.
  8. If necessary, apply touch up paint matching the vehicle's body color to the LH and RH hood hinge studs/nuts.

    Note
    Shake the touch paint before application. Allow for necessary dry time before closing the hood.
  9. Close the hood.
  10. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
