Hose - Outlet - Rear Drive Unit (4DU) (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Move the vehicle to a 2 post lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  2. Enable Service Mode on the touchscreen. See Service Mode.
  3. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the HEPA filter assembly. See Assembly - Filter - HEPA (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the HEPA duct. See Duct - HEPA (Remove and Replace).
  6. Disconnect LV power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  7. Remove the mid aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Mid (Remove and Replace).
  8. Position the coolant drain collector underneath the RH rear of the HV battery.
  9. Release the clips (x2) that attach the rear drive unit outlet hose to the rear skid plate.
  10. Release the clip that attaches the rear drive unit outlet hose to the RH shear plate.
  11. Release the clips (x2) that attach the RH rear wheel arch liner to the RH rocker panel, and then move the liner aside for access.
  12. Release the clip, disconnect the rear drive unit coolant outlet hose from the powertrain return hose, and then immediately plug both fittings.
  13. Release the clip that attaches the rear drive unit outlet hose to the rear drive unit heat exchanger.
  14. Release the clip, disconnect the rear drive unit outlet hose from the rear drive unit heat exchanger, and then immediately plug both fittings.
  15. Release the remaining clips (x2) that attach the rear drive unit outlet hose to the rear drive unit.
  16. Maneuver the rear drive unit outlet hose away from the rear drive unit, and then move the hose down and out between the rear subframe and the HV battery.

Install

  1. Maneuver the rear drive unit outlet hose up and in between the rear subframe and the HV battery, and then move the hose in and around the rear drive unit.
  2. Fasten the clips (x2) that attach the rear drive unit outlet hose to the rear drive unit.
  3. Remove the plugs from the fittings, immediately connect the rear drive unit outlet hose to the rear drive unit heat exchanger, fasten the clip, and then perform a Push-Pull-Push check of the fitting.
  4. Fasten the clip that attaches the rear drive unit outlet hose to the rear drive unit heat exchanger.
  5. Remove the plugs from the fittings, immediately connect the rear drive unit outlet hose to the powertrain return hose, fasten the clip, and then perform a Push-Pull-Push check of the fitting.

    Note
    Coolant loss greater than 1L requires vacuum fill.
  6. Return the RH rear wheel arch liner to position, and then fasten the clips (x2) that attach the liner to the RH rocker panel.
  7. Fasten the clip that attaches the rear drive unit outlet hose to the RH shear plate.
  8. Fasten the clips (x2) that attach the rear drive unit outlet hose to the rear skid plate.
  9. Remove the coolant drain collector from under the vehicle.
  10. Install the mid aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Mid (Remove and Replace).
  11. Connect LV power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  12. On the touchscreen, touch the wrench icon > Diagnostics > Thermal.

    Alternatively, touch Controls (vehicle icon) > Service Mode > Diagnostics > Thermal.
  13. Hold up on the turn signal stalk, and then press and hold the brake pedal at the same time for 10 seconds to authorize.
  14. On the touchscreen, touch START to the left of “Start Coolant Air Purge” and wait for the task to complete (10 minutes).

    Alternatively, touch START to the left of “Start Coolant Air Purge”, touch RUN TASK, wait for the task to complete (10 minutes), then touch X in the upper left corner.
  15. Add coolant to the reservoir as necessary, and install the reservoir cap.
  16. Install the HEPA duct. See Duct - HEPA (Remove and Replace).
  17. Install the HEPA filter assembly. See Assembly - Filter - HEPA (Remove and Replace).
  18. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  19. Disable Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  20. Remove the vehicle from the 2 post lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
