Carpet - Front - LH (7-Seat) (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open all the doors and lower all the windows.
  2. Move the LH front seat fully rearward.
  3. Remove screw and clips (x2) that attach the driver footwell cover to the instrument panel.
    2.5 Nm (1.8 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 socket
  4. Disconnect the connectors (x2), and then release the tabs (x3) to remove the driver footwell cover from the vehicle.
  5. Remove the LH center console side panel carpet. See Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the bolts that attach the LH front of the center console to the body.

    • 10 mm socket
    • 4 in extension
    • ¼ in std ratchet
    • ¼ in torque wrench (installation only)
  7. Remove the LH mid A-Pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the LH lower A-Pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Release the LH front door seal from the body.
  10. Release the clip that attaches the LH front carpet to the body near the front of the LH door opening.
  11. Fold the front of the LH front carpet rearward so that the LH body controller module and its surrounding connectors are exposed.
  12. Remove and discard the bolts (x2) that attach the front of the 1st row LH seat to the body.

    CAUTION
    Use only the Torx Plus T45 bit to remove the seat bolts.

    • Torx Plus T45 socket
    • 3/8 in std flex head ratchet
    • 3/8 in flex head torque wrench (installation only)
  13. Move the seat fully forward.
  14. Insert the seat belt release key (1133787-00-A) into the bottom of the seatbelt pretensioner coupling to release the seatbelt from the pretensioner.
  15. Raise the LH front seat cushion to the maximum height.

    Adjust the seat back if needed to avoid contacting the headliner.
  16. Remove the center console lower rear panel. See Panel - Lower Rear - Center Console (Remove and Replace).
  17. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH rear of the center console to the body.

  18. Move the RH front seat fully forward.
  19. Raise the RH front seat cushion to the maximum height.

  20. Remove the bolt that attaches the RH rear of the center console to the body.

    • ¼ in std ratchet
    • ¼ in torque wrench (installation only)
  21. Move the RH front seat fully rearward and to the lowest position.
  22. Remove the RH center console side panel carpet. See Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  23. Remove the bolts that attach the RH front of the center console to the body.

  24. Remove and discard the bolts (x2) that attach the rear of the 1st row LH seat to the body.

    CAUTION
    Use only the Torx Plus T45 bit to remove the seat bolts.

    • 3/8 in std flex head ratchet
    • 3/8 in flex head torque wrench (installation only)
  25. Adjust the LH front seat to the middle of the seat tracks, and then raise the seat fully.
    Tip: Performing this step will aide in removing the seat.
  26. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  27. Remove the HEPA filter assembly. See Assembly - Filter - HEPA (Remove and Install).
  28. Disconnect LV power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  29. Locate the LH front seat electrical connector on the LH body controller module.
  30. Release the LH front seat connector lock, and then remove the connector from the LH body controller.

    Note
    Squeeze the release tab on the LH front seat connector lock, and then swing the lock away from the connector to release the lock.

    CAUTION
    Do not pull on the connector too hard. If the connector does not easily disconnect from the LH body controller, the lock is still engaged.
  31. Release the clips (x2) that attach the LH front seat harness to the LH footwell support bracket near the LH side of the LH footwell.
  32. Release the clips that attach the LH front seat harness to the LH front seat harness guide.
  33. Pull the LH front seat harness out from under the LH front carpet.
  34. With assistance, remove the seat from the vehicle.

    Note
    Lift the seat, tilt the seat back, rotate the cushion toward the front door, and remove the seat from the vehicle, cushion first.

    CAUTION
    Take care not to damage the upholstery or trim while removing the seat.

    CAUTION
    If reinstalling the seat, place the seat in an area where it is not likely to be tipped over or otherwise damaged.
  35. Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear of the center console.
  36. Disconnect the electrical connector that is located at the RH front of the center console.
  37. With an assistant, remove the center console from the vehicle as follows:
    1. Tilt the rear of the center console upwards.
    2. Pull the center console towards the rear of the vehicle.
    3. Tilt the front of the center console upwards.
    4. Remove the center console through the passenger front door.
  38. Remove the clips (x2) that attach the LH front carpet to the vehicle.
  39. Lift up on the rear edge of the LH front carpet, and then slide the carpet towards the rear of vehicle to remove it.

    CAUTION
    Be careful to avoid the foam underneath the carpet catching on the seat risers.

Install

  1. Position the LH front carpet into the vehicle.
  2. Install the clips (x2) that attach the LH front carpet to the vehicle.
  3. With an assistant, install the center console into the vehicle as follows:
    1. Tilt the front of the center console downwards.
    2. Slide the center console towards the front of the vehicle.
    3. Tilt the rear of the center console downwards until it is in place.
  4. Connect the electrical connector that is located at the RH front of the center console.

    CAUTION
    Ensure the connector is properly installed. Perform a push-pull test before continuing this procedure.
  5. Install the bolts that attach the RH front of the center console to the body.
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)

    • ¼ in torque wrench (installation only)
  6. Install the RH center console side panel carpet. See Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Connect the electrical connector in the rear of the center console.

    CAUTION
    Ensure the connector is properly installed. Perform a push-pull test before continuing this procedure.
  8. Install the bolt that attaches the LH rear of the center console to the body.
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)

  9. Install the bolts that attach the LH front of the center console to the body.
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)

  10. Install the LH center console side panel carpet. See Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  11. With assistance, position the 1st row LH seat in the vehicle.

    CAUTION
    Take care not to damage the upholstery or trim while positioning the seat.
  12. Route the 1st row LH seat harness under the LH front carpet, position the harness in the harness guide, and then install the clips that attach the harness to the harness guide.
  13. Install the clips (x2) that attach the LH front seat harness to the LH footwell support bracket near the LH side of the LH footwell.
  14. Install the LH front seat harness connector on the LH body controller, and then engage the connector lock.

    Note
    Perform a push-pull test to ensure that the connector is fully seated and locked.
  15. Fully seat the LH front carpet.
  16. Unfold the LH front carpet back into position, and then install the clip that attaches the carpet to the body near the front of the LH door opening.
  17. Install the LH lower A-Pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  18. Install the LH mid A-Pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  19. Reseat the LH front door seal along the lower A-pillar trim.
  20. Connect 12V/LV power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  21. Install the HEPA filter assembly. See Assembly - Filter - HEPA (Remove and Install).
  22. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  23. Move the LH front seat fully forward.
  24. Install the LH 1st row seatbelt retractor onto the pretensioner.

    Note
    After reinstalling the seatbelt pretensioner into the seatbelt pretensioner coupling, perform a pull test to make sure that the seatbelt and pretensioner are securely engaged.
  25. Install the new bolts (x2) that attach the rear of the 1st row LH seat to the body.
    33.5 Nm (24.7 lbs-ft)

    Use only the Torx Plus T45 bit to install the seat bolts.

  26. Move the RH front seat fully forward.
  27. Raise the RH front seat cushion to the maximum height.

  28. Install the bolt that attaches the RH rear of the center console to the body.
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)

  29. Install the center console lower rear panel. See Panel - Lower Rear - Center Console (Remove and Replace).
  30. Move the RH front seat to the original position.
  31. Move the LH front seat fully rearward.
  32. Install the new bolts (x2) that attach the front of the 1st row LH seat to the body.
    33.5 Nm (24.7 lbs-ft)

    Use only the Torx Plus T45 bit to install the seat bolts.

  33. Position the driver footwell cover into the vehicle, and then connect the connectors (x2) and then secure the tabs (x3).
  34. Install screw and clips (x2) that attach the driver footwell cover to the instrument panel.
    2.5 Nm (1.8 lbs-ft)

  35. Move the LH front seat to the original position.
  36. Raise all the windows and close all the doors.
