Frame - Seat Cushion - Driver Seat (Remove and Replace)

Warning
Seat base edges are
sharp and can cause personal injury. Wear cut resistant gloves when removing the seat
from the vehicle, and while performing procedures that involve work on or near the seat
base.

Remove
- Remove the driver seat from the vehicle. See Seat Assembly - 1st Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the driver seat headrest trim. See Trim - Headrest - Driver (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the driver seat outboard side shield. See Side Shield - Outboard - Driver Seat (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the driver seat inboard side shield. See Side Shield - Inboard - Driver Seat (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the driver seat back shell. See Shell - Seat Back - Driver (Remove and Replace).
- Unhook the lower flaps that cover the LH and RH lower corners of the seat back frame.

Unhook the upper flaps that cover the LH and RH lower corners of the seat back frame.
Tip: Pull the lower section of trim away from the retaining tab to release the trim, and then pull the upper trim straight up to release it from the upper retaining tab.

Release the clips that attach the outboard side of the seat back cover to the seat back frame, and then expose the air bag connector.
Tip: Rotate the clips and release them from the frame from the inside out.

Pull the seat upholstery away from the side airbag connector then disconnect the electrical harness from the driver side airbag connector.
NotePull the orange tabs down to release the connector.
- Disconnect the electrical harness from the recliner motor connector.
- Disconnect the electrical harness from the lumbar valve pack and ECU.
- Disconnect the electrical harness from the lumbar pump connector.
- Release the clips that attach the electrical harness to the seat frame.
- Position the seat to gain access to the underside.

Disconnect the driver seat seat back heater electrical connector.

Release driver seat seat back harness connector from the seat bottom.
- Position the seat assembly upright.

Remove and discard the bolts (x2) that attach the LH side of the driver seat seat back frame to the seat cushion frame.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- T50 socket

Remove and discard the patchbolt that attaches the buckle to the seat track, and then remove the buckle.

Release the seat belt buckle harness clip from the seat frame.
-
Disconnect the seat belt buckle electrical connector, and then set the seat belt buckle aside.
-
Remove and discard the bolts (x2) that attach the RH side of the driver seat seat back frame to the seat cushion frame.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- T50 socket

Rotate the seat back frame away from the cushion frame, and then lift the back seat frame upwards to remove it from the cushion frame.

Turn the seat bottom over for access.
CAUTIONProtect the seat cushion from damage.

Disconnect the heat pad electrical connector.
-
Release the clip that attaches the heat pad connector to the seat bottom.
NoteSlide connector forward to release from seat bottom
- Disconnect the electrical harness from the seat occupied sensor connector.
- Release the clip that attaches the seat occupied sensor to the seat underside, and then separate the sensor from the seat underside.
- Release the clips (x2) that attach the seat cushion foam to the seat suspension.

Remove the front retaining clip from the seat cushion frame securing the front of the seat trim to the frame.
Note1x clip strip. May need to start with a hook tool. Pull the clip away from the frame to release.

Remove the inboard retaining clip from the seat cushion frame securing the side of the seat trim to the frame
Note1x clip strip. May need to start with a hook tool. Pull the clip away from the frame to release.

Remove the outboard retaining clip from the seat cushion frame securing the side of the seat trim to the frame.
Note1x clip strip. May need to start with a hook tool. Pull the clip away from the frame to release.

Remove the cushion pad assembly from the seat frame assembly.
NoteLift the cushion straight off. Ensure the heating pad and seat occupied sensor harnesses are clear of the seat frame.

Disconnect seat track position sensor.
Note1x connector.

If equipped, remove the screw that attaches the seat track position sensor to the seat track assembly, and then remove the sensor from the seat track assembly.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- T20 socket

Disconnect the lift motor connector
Note1x connector
- Disconnect the electrical harness from the seat tilt motor connector.

Remove the harness clip from the seat track motor
Note1x clip
- Disconnect the electrical harness from the seat track motor connector.
- Disconnect the electrical harness from the pre-tensioner connector.
-
Fully loosen the bolt that
attaches the pre-tensioner to the seat track, and then remove the
pre-tensioner and bolt as a single assembly from the seat track.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T50 socket
- 3/8 in std ratchet
- 3/8 in torque wrench (installation only)
- 3 in extension

Release the clips (x3) that attach the electrical harness along the seat cushion frame.
NoteOlder harnesses are clipped directly to the seat frame, while newer harnesses are attached to a harness guide that is clipped to the seat rail. See images.

Remove harness from seat frame
Install

Position the driver seat harness to seat frame for installation.
NoteMake sure the harness is routed properly. The main branch of the harness should line up with the center cut out for the center clip. Route the inboard and outboard legs of the harness between the track and the frame. Both inboard and outboard legs should wrap around the front of the frame.

Install clips securing the driver seat harness to seat cushion frame.

Install clips securing the driver seat harness to outboard side of seat cushion frame.

Install the pre-tensioner
and bolt assembly to the seat track, align the pre-tensioner guide pin to
the seat track, and then tighten the bolt that attaches the pre-tensioner to
the seat track.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T50 socket
- 3/8 in std ratchet
- 3/8 in torque wrench (installation only)
- 3 in extension

Connect the driver pre-tensioner connector.
Note1x connector. The pre-tensioner is a two-stage connector. Ensure the lock is engaged after the connector is fully seated.

Connect the seat track motor connector.

Install the seat track harness connector to the seat track motor.

Connect the tilt motor connector.

Connect the lift motor connector.

If equipped, position the seat track position sensor on the new seat track assembly, and then install the screw that attaches the sensor to the seat track assembly.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- T20 socket

Connect seat track position sensor.

Place the cushion pad assembly onto seat cushion frame for installation.
NoteInsert the rear of the seat cushion to seat bottom frame and then lower the rest on the seat cushion to the seat bottom frame. Ensure wiring harness are routed through the back of seat frame.

Install the heat pad connector to the seat frame.
Note1x connector, 1x clip, Slide connector onto seat frame clip to secure.

Connect the heat pad connector.

Install the seat occupied sensor onto the seat frame.

Install the seat cushion retaining clips onto the seat suspension.
Note2x clips, The seat cushion and trim may need to be pulled tight for the hooks to achieve correct placement on the seat suspension.

Install the inboard seat trim retaining clip onto the seat frame.
Note1x clip strip, Fold the clip over towards the frame. The open end should engage the seat frame, if not the trim will need to be pulled until the correct amount of tension is achieved. Line up one end of the clip strip opening with the seat frame and press down until the clip is fully seated onto the frame.

Install the front seat trim retaining clip onto the seat frame.
Note1x clip strip, Fold the clip over towards the frame. The open end should engage the seat frame, if not the trim will need to be pulled until the correct amount of tension is achieved. Line up one end of the clip strip opening with the seat frame and press down until the clip is fully seated onto the frame.

Install the outboard seat trim retaining clip onto the seat frame.
Note1x clip strip, Fold the clip over towards the frame. The open end should engage the seat frame, if not the trim will need to be pulled until the correct amount of tension is achieved. Line up one end of the clip strip opening with the seat frame and press down until the clip is fully seated onto the frame.

Return seat to upright position.

Place the seat back frame onto the cushion frame for installation.
NoteThe seat back frame can rest on the cushion frame without fasteners.

Install the outboard fasteners securing the seat back frame to the cushion frame.
Note2x patch bolts, T50, 43 Nm, Install new patch bolts.

Install the inboard fasteners securing the seat back frame to the cushion frame.
Note2x patch bolts, T50, 43 Nm, Install new patch bolts.

Install the seat belt buckle onto the cushion frame.
Note1x patch bolt, T50, 40 Nm, Install new patch bolt.

Connect seat belt buckle connector.

Install the seat belt buckle harness clip.

Rotate the seat to gain access to the underside of the seat.
NoteProtect seat cushion from damage.

Install the seat back harness connector to the seat bottom.

Connect the seat heater harness.

Rotate the seat back to the upright position.

Install the seat harness to seat back frame for installation.

Connect the lumbar pump.

Connect the lumbar valve pack and ECU.

Connect the recliner motor.

Connect LH front seat side air bag.

Install the clips holding the outboard seat back trim to the seat frame.

Install the upper flap covering the outboard corner of the seat back frame.
NotePull the flap over the metal tangs to secure.

Install the lower flap covering the outboard corner of the seat back frame.
NotePull the flap over the metal tangs to secure.

- Install the driver seat outboard side shield. See Side Shield - Outboard - Driver Seat (Remove and Replace).
