Hose - Front Drive Unit Powertrain Bypass (RWD) (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and fully lower the window.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  3. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  5. Disconnect 12V power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  6. Remove the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Non-Structural Pack) (Remove and Replace).
  7. Position a coolant drain container underneath the RH front side of the vehicle.
  8. Remove the clip, disconnect the powertrain bypass hose from the supermanifold, and then immediately plug the male and female fittings.
  9. Release the clip that attaches the powertrain bypass hose to the RH side of the subframe.
  10. Remove the fasteners that attach the lower portion of the RH wheel liner, and then use an S-hook to pull the liner rearward..
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
  11. Position a coolant drain container underneath the RH front side of the HV battery.
  12. Release the spring clip, disconnect the powertrain bypass hose at the RH side of the HV battery and immediately plug the male and female fittings.
  13. Remove the powertrain bypass hose from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Install the powertrain bypass hose into the vehicle.
  2. Remove the coolant plugs, connect the powertrain bypass hose to the RH side of the HV battery, and then install the spring clip.

    Note
    Perform a push-pull test to verify that the hose is fully seated.
  3. Install the clip that attaches the powertrain bypass hose to the RH side of the subframe.
  4. Position a coolant drain container underneath the RH front side of the vehicle.
  5. Remove the coolant plugs, connect the powertrain bypass hose to the supermanifold, and then install the clip.

    Note
    Perform a push-pull test to verify that the hose is fully seated.
  6. Remove the coolant drain container from under the vehicle.
  7. Remove the S-hook from the front RH wheel liner, position the lower portion of the RH wheel liner, and then install the fasteners.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
  8. Install the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Non-Structural Pack) (Remove and Replace).
  9. Lower the vehicle until the tires are touching the ground.
  10. Remove the coolant bottle cap, and then fill the coolant bottle to the "Max" line.
  11. Connect 12V power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  12. Connect to the vehicle with a laptop with Toolbox 3.0.
  13. In Toolbox, click the Actions/Autodiag tab, and then search for "Purge".
  14. Click TEST_VCFRONT_X_THERMAL-COOLANT-AIR-PURGESearch for routine in ToolboxCoolant Air PurgeThermal / Coolant System - Coolant Purge Starthv / Front Drive Inverter Replacement - Coolant Air Purgehv / Rear Drive Inverter Replacement - Coolant Air Purgehv / Rear Left Drive Inverter Replacement - Coolant Air Purgehv / Rear Right Drive Inverter Replacement - Coolant Air Purgehv / Front Drive Unit Replacement - Coolant Air Purgehv / Rear Drive Unit Replacement - Coolant Air PurgeThermal / Actions - Coolant Purge Stop or Coolant Purge Start, and then click Run and allow the routine to complete.
  15. Inspect the coolant level and top off as necessary, and then install the coolant bottle cap.

    Note
    Ensure that the coolant level is at the "Max" line.
  16. Disconnect the laptop from the vehicle.
  17. Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  18. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
