Switch - Back Rest and Cushion Adjust - Driver Seat (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Move the LH front seat forward.
  3. Raise the LH front seat cushion to the maximum height.
    CAUTION
    Adjust the seat back if needed to avoid contacting the headliner.
    CAUTION
    Do not allow the seat headrest to compress the sun visor as it might crack the mirror.
  4. Remove the cushion switch cap and the recliner switch cap from the outboard side shield by twisting the trim tool.
    Note
    Be careful not to damage the trim and the switches during the removal.
  5. Remove the bolt that attaches the driver seat outboard side shield to the seat frame.
    Note
    Some vehicles may equip with 8mm bolt with a torque of 5 Nm.
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 socket
  6. Partially release the outboard side shield (1x clip), leaving sufficient space to remove the backrest and cushion adjust switch.
    CAUTION
    Do not fully remove the outboard side shield; otherwise damage may occur to the harness and switch.
  7. Disconnect the LH front seat switch connector.
  8. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the driver seat backrest and cushion adjust switch to the outboard side shield, and remove the switch from the side shield.
    Note
    Do not remove the five Philips screws, as this will damage the switch pack.
    Note
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 bit
    • Ratchet/torque wrench

Install

  1. Install the driver seat backrest and cushion adjust switch to the outboard side shield, and then install the bolts (x3) that attach the switch to the side shield.
    1.7 Nm (1.3 lbs-ft)
    Note
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 bit
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  2. Connect the LH front seat switch connector.
  3. Secure the outboard side shield clip into the LH front seat, apply appropriate pressure to the outside side shield to fully seat the trim clip, and ensure the side shield sits flush against the seat cushion.
  4. Install the bolt that attaches the driver seat outboard side shield to the seat frame.
    4 Nm (2.9 lbs-ft)
    Note
    Some vehicles may equip with 8mm bolt with a torque of 5 Nm.
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 socket
  5. Install the recliner switch cap and the cushion switch cap onto the outboard side shield.
  6. Move the LH front seat back to the original position.
  7. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
