Reuse

Remove

  1. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  3. Remove the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  4. Position the oil drain under the LH front brake caliper area.
  5. Remove the LH front jounce hose. See Brake Hose - Flexible - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove and discard the bolts that attach the LH front brake caliper to the LH front knuckle, and then remove the caliper from the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • E18 socket

Install

  1. Install the LH front brake caliper onto the LH front knuckle, and then install new bolts to attach the caliper to the knuckle, and then mark the bolts with a paint pen.
    94 Nm (69.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • E18 socket
  2. Install a new LH front jounce hose. See Brake Hose - Flexible - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the oil drain from underneath the vehicle.
  4. Lower the vehicle.
  5. Perform the bleed procedure for the LH front brake caliper. See Brake Fluid Bleed - One Caliper.
  6. Install the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  7. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  8. Perform vehicle road test using a series of ABS-active stops and make sure proper brake pedal feel and performance is achieved.
