Drive Unit - Rear (4DU) (Update ETD)

Update the Engine Type Designation (ETD)

Apply masking tape to the serial number of the rear drive unit.
NoteUse a triple layer of masking tape, covering all symbols of the serial number.

Remove the ETD from the rear drive unit.
NoteInstall flap wheel disc 80 on a grinder under sufficient extension to avoid touching the RDU rib. Gently grind off the ETD. Take care not to damage the serial number.
- Remove the masking tape from the serial number of the rear drive unit.

Clean the oil drain area on the rear drive unit.
NoteUse a scotch brite pad to clean the area if any corrosion is present. Clean firmly with IPA afterwards. Allow 1 minute dry time.

Install the 4D1 ETD sticker on the oil drain area of the rear drive
unit.
NoteMake sure that the affected area is above 10 °C. Heat up the area with a heat gun if necessary. Wet-out the ETD sticker using a roller.
