Remove

  1. Remove the LH front door trim panel. See Panel - Door Trim - Front - LH (Remove and Install).
  2. Remove the LH front door NVH pad from the LH front door trim panel.
  3. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH front door interior door handle to the LH front door trim panel.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)

    TIp
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • T20 socket
  4. Apply masking tape along the top surface of the LH front door trim panel for protection.
  5. Use a plastic trim tool to pry open the door handle trim panel.
  6. Carefully insert the inflatable air bag between the LH door trim panel and the door handle to form a gap.

    Be careful not to damage any interior components.
  7. Use the cordless rotary kit to remove the two weld points from the release switch if necessary.

    This step is only required for some Model Y vehicles built in Shanghai factory.

    CAUTION
    Be careful not to damage any surrounding components during the operation.
  8. Release the LH front door electric release switch from the LH front door trim panel assembly.

    Do not insert the plastic trim tool too deep. Gently pry and rotate to release the switch from the panel.

Install

  1. Route the harness into the door trim, and then install the LH front door electric release switch.
  2. Gently lift the trim panel, and then remove the plastic trim tool.
  3. Press the LH front door interior door handle onto the LH front door trim panel secure it.
  4. Remove the masking tape from the LH front door trim panel.
  5. Install the bolt that attaches the LH front door interior door handle to the LH front door trim panel.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)
