HV Harness - HV Battery to Rear Drive Unit (Non-Structural Pack) (4DU) (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Move the vehicle to a 2 post lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  2. Enable Service Mode on the touchscreen. See Service Mode.
  3. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the HEPA filter assembly. See Assembly - Filter - HEPA (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the HEPA duct. See Duct - HEPA (Remove and Replace).
  6. Disconnect LV power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  7. Perform the vehicle electrical isolation procedure. See Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure.
  8. Remove the mid aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Mid (Remove and Replace).
  9. Release the clips (x4) that attach the coolant hoses to the rear skid plate.

  10. Remove the HV battery rear skid plate. See Skid Plate - HV Battery - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  11. Position a coolant drain collector underneath the LH rear of the HV battery.
  12. Release the clip, disconnect the rear drive unit inverter inlet hose from the HV battery, and then immediately plug both fittings.
  13. Release the clip, disconnect the rear drive unit inverter inlet hose from the rear drive unit inverter, and then immediately plug both fittings.
  14. Release the clip that attaches the rear drive unit inverter inlet hose from rear drive unit HV harness.
  15. Remove the rear drive unit inverter inlet hose down and out from between the rear subframe and the HV battery.
  16. Remove the bolt that attaches the rear drive unit HV harness bracket to the rear drive unit inverter.
  17. Slide the locking tab, raise the black handle, disconnect the rear drive unit HV harness from the rear drive unit inverter HV header,and then set the HV harness aside.
  18. Remove the nut(s) that attach(es) the rear drive unit HV harness bracket to the HV battery.
  19. Slide the red locking tab, raise the black handle, and then disconnect the rear drive unit HV harness from the HV battery header.
  20. Remove the rear drive unit HV harness down and out from between the rear subframe and the HV battery.

    Rotate the harness as it is removed to allow access for the bracket.

Install

  1. Install the rear drive unit HV harness in and up between the rear subframe and the HV battery.

  2. Verify that the black release lever of the rear drive unit HV harness connector is in the open position, install the connector flat and square to the HV battery header, secure the release lever to the closed position, and then slide the red connector locking tab.
  3. Install the nut(s) that attach(es) the rear drive unit HV harness bracket to the HV battery.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
  4. Verify that the black release lever of the rear drive unit HV harness connector is in the open position, install the connector flat and square to the rear drive unit inverter HV header, secure the release lever to the closed position, and then slide the connector locking tab.
  5. Install the bolt that attaches the rear drive unit HV harness bracket to the rear drive unit inverter.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)
  6. Install the rear drive unit inverter inlet hose in and up between the rear subframe and the HV battery.
  7. Fasten the clip that attaches the rear drive unit inverter inlet hose to rear drive unit HV harness.
  8. Remove the plugs from the fittings, immediately connect the rear drive unit inverter inlet hose to the rear drive unit inverter, fasten the clip, and then perform a Push-Pull-Push check of the fitting.
  9. Remove the plugs from the fittings, immediately connect the rear drive unit inverter inlet hose to the HV battery, fasten the clip, and then perform a Push-Pull-Push check of the fitting.
  10. Remove the coolant drain collector from under the vehicle.
  11. Install the HV battery rear skid plate. See Skid Plate - HV Battery - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  12. Fasten the clips (x4) that attach the coolant hoses to the rear skid plate.

  13. Install the mid aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Mid (Remove and Replace).
  14. Connect LV power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  15. On the touchscreen, touch the wrench icon > Diagnostics > Thermal.

    Alternatively, touch Controls (vehicle icon) > Service Mode > Diagnostics > Thermal.
  16. Hold up on the turn signal stalk, and then press and hold the brake pedal at the same time for 10 seconds to authorize.
  17. On the touchscreen, touch START to the left of “Start Coolant Air Purge” and wait for the task to complete (10 minutes).

    Alternatively, touch START to the left of “Start Coolant Air Purge”, touch RUN TASK, wait for the task to complete (10 minutes), then touch X in the upper left corner.
  18. Add coolant to the reservoir as necessary, and install the reservoir cap.
  19. Install the HEPA duct. See Duct - HEPA (Remove and Replace).
  20. Install the HEPA filter assembly. See Assembly - Filter - HEPA (Remove and Replace).
  21. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  22. Disable Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  23. Remove the vehicle from the 2 post lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
