Bumper Beam - Front (Remove and Replace)

Torque Specifications

Replace

Remove

  1. Disconnect 12V power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  2. Remove the front fascia. See Fascia - Front (Remove and Install).
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the LH and RH front bumper crash accelerometer sensors.

    CAUTION
    Do not disconnect the crash accelerometer unless 12V power has been disconnected.
  4. Remove the bolts that attach the LH and RH sides of the front bumper beam to the ankle catcher.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
    • 3 in extension
  5. Remove and discard the bolts that attach the LH and RH sides of the front bumper beam to the LH and RH crush cans.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm socket
    • 3 in extension
  6. Use a prybar to release the front bumper beam from the LH and RH crush cans. Remove the front bumper beam from the vehicle.

    CAUTION
    Do not damage the body when prying the front bumper.
    Tip: Slightly tap the front bumper beam with a dead blow hammer to assist with removal of the front bumper.
  7. Remove the bolts that attach the LH and RH front bumper crash accelerometer sensors.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • 4 in extension
  8. Remove the front bumper beam foam from the front bumper beam.

Install

  1. Install the front bumper beam foam onto the front bumper beam.
  2. Use a dead blow hammer to install the front bumper beam to the LH and RH crush cans.
  3. Install the bolts that attach the LH and RH front bumper crash accelerometer sensors.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • 4 in extension
  4. Install the new bolts that attach the LH and RH sides of the front bumper beam to the LH and RH crush cans.
    75 Nm (55.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm socket
    • 3 in extension
  5. Install the bolts that attach the LH and RH sides of the front bumper beam to the ankle catcher.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
    • 3 in extension
  6. Connect the electrical connectors to the LH and RH front bumper crash accelerometer sensors.
  7. Install the front fascia. See Fascia - Front (Remove and Install).
  8. Connect 12V power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
