Knuckle - Suspension - Rear (Inspect)

Procedure

  1. Remove the rear wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  2. Attach the brake rotor runout tool to the LH rear knuckle and route the flexible bar up towards the aft link.
  3. Move the flexible bar so that the indicator rod of the brake rotor runout tool touches the bolt of the upper ball joint connecting the aft link to the knuckle, and then set the measurement to zero.

    Make sure the indicator rod is properly depressed to allow travel in both directions without bottoming out.
  4. Insert a medium size prybar between the aft link and the knuckle.

    Make sure the prybar is pushing the noted area to avoid rotation of the aft link.
  5. Move the prybar from left to right to force the rear knuckle to move, and note the values of the indicator when the knuckle assembly moves.

    The maximum allowed play is 1,00mm. If the play is more than 1,00mm, replace the upper ball joint of the rear knuckle.

  6. Remove the brake rotor runout tool from the LH rear knuckle.
  7. Install the rear wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
