Note

Procedure

  1. Gently lift the wiper arms away from the windshield to access the wiper blades, and then clean the wiper blades (x2) with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol, especially the edge of the wiper blades.

    CAUTION
    If wiper blades show degradation and need to be replaced, recommend customers to replace the wiper blades to prevent reduced camera visibility performance.

    CAUTION
    Do not lift a wiper arm beyond its intended position.

    Note
    Remind customers to periodically clean the edge of the wiper blades as instructed in the Owner's Manual.
  2. Clean the exterior surface of front windshield.

    Use 2 microfiber cloths and Zep windshield cleaner.

    When cleaning, wipe in a circular motion.
    1. Apply zep windshield cleaner onto one microfiber towel.
    2. Clean outside surface.
    3. While the surface is still wet, wipe the windshield with the 2nd microfiber towel thoroughly until it is dry.
    4. Verify windshield has no stains or residue.
    5. Allow 1 minute dry time
  3. Inspect the exterior surface of the triple camera area.

    Perform the inspection indoors.

    Note
    Use an LED flashlight to illuminate the windshield around the front camera area. Inspect and verify that the entire area is free of any hazing, fogginess, stains and residue. If NOT confident about the presence of haze, smudges or residue, then proceed to removing components to inspect inside surface.

    If necessary, have an assistant hold the flashlight in position for the inspection.
  4. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  5. Remove the rear view mirror. See Rearview Mirror - Rear View Miror (Remove and Install).
  6. Remove the rear view mirror beauty cover. See Rearview Mirror - Beauty Cover (Remove and Install).

    Note
    It is not necessary to remove the interior camera from the beauty cover. Remove the beauty cover as an assembly.
  7. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the GNSS antenna electrical connector.
  8. Remove the rear view mirror glare shield assembly. See Rearview Mirror - Glare Shield (Remove and Install).
  9. Preview all forward facing cameras and assess visual clarity.
    1. On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to UI > Service > Driver Assist > Cameras > Camera preview > Main/Wide/Narrow to preview all forward facing cameras.
    2. Make sure no residue and/or dirt is visible across all camera lenses.
      • If the images are clear and free of any dirt, then skip step 11 to reinstall components.
      • If the image is blurry and visuals are impeded, then proceed to cleaning windshield and camera lenses.
  10. Clean the windshield interior surface.

    Use new microfiber towels and Zep windshield cleaner.

    Note
    Make sure to clean the corners and edges. Clean the notch if applicable. Make sure the towel goes over camera FOV via camera preview.
    1. Apply Zep windshield cleaner onto one microfiber towel.
    2. Use the wet microfiber towel to wipe the area thoroughly.
    3. Use the dry microfiber towel to wipe off area thoroughly.
    4. Inspect that the windshield area is clean and no lint residuals remain. Verify the interior and exterior of the windshield is not hazy, foggy, stained or has any residue like lint from microfiber towels.
  11. Clean the forward facing camera lenses.

    Use new microfiber towels and Zep windshield cleaner.
    1. Apply Zep windshield cleaner onto one microfiber towel.
    2. Use the wet microfiber towel to wipe the lenses thoroughly.
    3. Use the dry microfiber towel to wipe off the lenses thoroughly.
    4. Make sure the lenses have no stains or lint residue from the microfiber towels.
  12. Install the rear view mirror glare shield assembly. See Rearview Mirror - Glare Shield (Remove and Install).
  13. Install the rear view mirror beauty cover. See Rearview Mirror - Beauty Cover (Remove and Install).
  14. Install rear view mirror. See Rearview Mirror - Rear View Miror (Remove and Install).
  15. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  16. Unlock the vehicle Gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  17. Clear the camera FOV residue alert: On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to Service Mode Plus > Driver Assist > Cameras > Main Pitch > Windshield clean complete, tap Run and allow the routine to complete.
  18. Reset DAS ECU: On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to Service Mode Plus > Driver Assist > Cameras > Cameras > Main Pitch > Reset DAS, tap Run and allow the routine to complete.
  19. Record windshield cleaning completion: On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to UI > Service Mode > Driver Assist > Cameras > Main Pitch > Record windshield cleaning procedure completion, tap Run and allow the routine to complete.

    If the camera FOV residue alert has been cleared previously, then skip this step.
  20. Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  21. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
